I recently got the Circa 62 #3 (the 2006 version with the gunmetal finish). This club supposedly required a lot of care, which includes frequent cleaning with a silicon cloth. It also rusts very easily (is this cool character or a total hassle?). HOWEVER, there is a new version with a no-maintanance finish. Mine is still new in the wrapper. Do I...

1) Play the 2006 version and deal with the maintanance (I've never had a Cameron/Gunmetal club before).

2) Try to exchange it (or sell it on ebay) and get the newer low-maintanance 2007 version

Any advice/direction you can offer is appreciated!

I can't speak from experience with the new finish, but I'm guessing it isn't "no maintenance" but rather "lower maintenance" than the 06 model. I prefer the new finish if for no other reason than it's not shiny so there's no glare.

Even the pro platinum finish I had applied to my Circa 62 can get rust pitting if I'm not careful.

I've had luck making sure I take the cover off when I get home, opening it up and making sure it dries out before the next round. I once left a wet headcover on a Scotty head with disasterous results. A spray silicone works even better than the cloth. I've dealt successfully with the first signs of rust with a product called Flitz.

Still, it's a tool and it's going to inevitably pick up the nicks and bumps of use. For me, as long as the top line stays clean, I'm good.

    • I wonder if that is why my home course basically have no stakes now.  Not even markers.  It’s completely up to golfers to remember what is OB and hazard and how things used to be marked.     Even in tournaments, there is no marking and certain areas are played differently by different golfers who either don’t know better or use it to their advantage funny reading thru this with courses that actually have markers
    • is it though?????? "Millions of fans"?????
    • Great post, thanks for the informaiton. I try to avoid adding salt to anything I eat. I tend to add pepper on to my meals as opposed to salt. And I am trying to eat as clean on possible. On golf day, I eat 3 eggs for breakfast (pepper NO salt) and a salad for lunch, with grilled chicken thigs (pepper, garlic, no salt). I have been trying to avoid processed food, but we all slip. I also should have mentioned that the electrolyte packet calls for mixing with 16 oz of water, however I mix in 32 oz of water, so I dilute the electrolyte powder.
    • So if I read the news correctly, the PIF will not fund LIV after this season.  LIV is trying to find new funding and a number of players there are now asking about getting back to the Tour.    I am very, very concerned that Taylor Gooch will not have a place where he can make a jackass out of himself soon
    • It is a known technique, similar to the armed forces box technique. They use a 4x4 , in through the nose and out through the mouth. I use it to go to sleep fairly often. It works for me
