I have a 1990's Scotty Cameron Newport 2.  It is currently in original condition down to the grips.  I want to get it restored.  I'm debating about sending it to either Tom Slighter or just going through SC Custom Shop.

The benefit about Slighter is he does a great job from what I've heard and he can do several different finishes that SC won't. It also costs a bit less than going through the SC.  The downside is, the club won't retain its value because it's been modified by a third party.  SC won't ever touch it again if I decide to do it.

The club is not terribly expensive <$200 and I don't plan on selling it anytime soon.  I just don't know if it is a mistake to go the Slighter route.  Any advice???

It all comes down to if you want to re-sell it.  More vale if it's done thru SC.  But if you want a unique, more personalized putter go with Slighter

Do you know much about that particular model ('97 Newport Two)?  I guess if it is a fairly common putter I'll just go through Slighter.  I'd just hate to go 3rd party and find out I manipulated a collectible club.  Thanks!
