Yeah, a fluff piece and correlation does not mean causation, but anyway, here's the article . It's golf related.

If someone said golfers make 50% less, I'd still play.

Kill slow play. Allow walking. Reduce ineffective golf instruction. Use environmentally friendly course maintenance.

I run a small professional services firm.  My number one way to get clients is to go to my club as a single on Saturday and Sunday around 10 am.  I always get paired up, hopefully make a decent impression, and make a follow up call to extend an invitation to another round.

It is 100x easier to get a golfer to come meet you for a free round than that same person to come meet you for a free lunch.  And then you have a captive audience for 3-41/2 hours while you play.  Its an incredible marketing tool - its almost like they are addicted and can't help but come listen to your sales pitch to get out on the links.  I've probably gotten 60%+ of my corporate business through people met randomly at my club playing golf.
