So, my wife had a training school in Orlando last week for her job. I decided to lock my shop up and go with her.  I took my golf clubs ,and once down there realised that the PGA show was going on all week and all the folks I called were booked up for golf.  Well, since I'm a walker when I can , I found two course that were really cool. I played Dubsdread on Monday. It was built in 1923, and had alot of character for a small course. I paid $38 to walk. Tuesday through Friday I played Winter Pines in Winter Park, and what a treat. I paid $16 to walk one of the neatest little tracts I've seen in a long time. This course was built in the 60's  , and has one of the best practice facilities I've ever been on. The folks were very nice , and seemed to work me in to tee off at 10 every morning. The fairways are like walking on a firm mattress, and the rough is well manicured. I would highly recommend this course to anyone wanting to just squeeze in a round while on vacation or make it a week of golf. It os a tester for all levels in my opinion.

Did you mean Winter Park Country Club in Winter Park? - a nine-hole walking course?

If so, you played my two favorite local courses! I love Dubs & have recommended it to whoever visits here. It's not near any of the attractions, but instead is located in the city. It's just a great course & usually in great shape. Here's a couple stories I wrote on my blog about these courses -

Yes folks, you can play golf in Orlando, in the winter, without blowing your vacation budget.

I played Dubs Dread last February and got adopted on the first tee by a couple of locals.  Had a great time on a fun course. Four birdies helped too!

Yeah Dubs is a fun course. You can definitely make some birdies...and some double bogeys too. Plus a few years back they put some money into it & it's in great shape now. Greens are awesome with a ton of grain. Definitely gotta read the grain there.

Actually, I believe it was called Winter Pines, and it is an 18 hole course with a par of 67.

Ah, ok. I haven't played there yet.

Winter Pines is a great course in Winter Park. Fairly tight , but a little short. Great walking course for sure.
