Well, I finally got my first eagle today.  I've been playing for about 10 years now (pretty seriously my first 2 years when I played hight school golf and then picked it up again really seriously about 1 1/2 years ago with 3 or 4 rounds per year in the years in between).  I was on the 16th hole at my home course which is a 333yd par 4 from the tees I was playing... I hit a 3w off the tee and left myself 117 to the pin... The green is two tears with the lower tear being the one in the back... I was kind of to the left of the green and hit a choked down 9 iron below and right of the hole... in the air I was thinking it was a pretty good shot and when it landed it just kept trickling down towards the hole until it disappeared.  I wasn't 100% sure I had made it until I got up to the green and saw no ball there... just a great feeling.

I've had one similar shot back when I was in high school where I holed out from 150 but it was for birdie... I had hit a horrible drive on that hole and then a crappy shot into the right rough leaving me with the 150.

It was just fun to hit that shot today and wanted to share.

I love a good 9-iron eagle! Made one myself 2 years back to a blind green from about the same distance. I thought I heard it rattle in, but my buddy said no way. The joke was on him when we climbed up to the green and saw the ball mark inches from the pin and my Titleist at the bottom of the cup.

Congrats! I got my first eagle a few months ago, actually it was December 31, 2011! Sounds like a great shot and I know you'll never forget it!

      Day 87 (27 Jul 25) - Made it an easy session with the wedge this afternoon, worked on staying in the shot and not lifting out - split between low spinners and higher floaters.

      Shot my new low 72 (par 70) today. Had 5 birdies, also a new best, which included a hole out from the bunker on par 3 6th, and another hole out pitch from 15ish yards on the long par 4, 15th.  Got a couple of other good breaks. Except for an OB drive on 14th (and ensuing double bogey), not much went wrong. All in all I might have used up a year's worth of luck in a single day.

      Day 300 - 2025-07-27 Good 44-ball segment. GSPro was acting goofy, so I just put it on the Quad. Then I hit a bunch of low spinners. Hit 14° down to 9.8° down, with the average closer to 12.3° or so. Focused mostly on the backswing. Right knee good, hands roll up and out a little before laying off (FAR).
