Winn Grips

Recently purchased a used set of Ping G 10 irons that are in excellent condition. Grips look great, however, I realize that these clubs could be as early as '07 models. Should I consider re-gripping?

If you can't grip the club adequately, yes.

If you can grip the club fine, no.

Club age does not necessarily equal grip age.  Spruce them up with a mild detergent and a nylon bristled brush and thoroughly dry them.  Then check to see how tacky they are.

FWIW, my recently purchased Winn Excel grips say to NOT use detergent and a brush. Only clean with a soft cloth and a small amount of water.

Grips are a preference thing... If your question is should you go and get Winn grips put on... Then I would simply say go to the golf shop and grab the samples out of the bins that they have.  And see if you like any of them better than what is on the G10's.

I just re-gripped my set with the new Winn Dri-tac grips and I love them.  They are the best Winn grips I've ever played with.

They are probably very porous then.  A damp rag or a bit of alcohol can be used for these types of softer rubber.  It all depends on the model, and how old they actually are.  I assumed they were pretty old and rather dry, otherwise he should be able to tell the difference.  I wonder how long these softer grips will actually last.  I guess it isn't an issue for those that change them out every season.  I suppose I should have asked the OP which model he actually has.  I didn't mention it earlier, but I would never submerse a grip in water.  For old grips, I dip the soft brush in a solution of approx 2-3 gallons of water with a teaspoon of mild dish detergent.  The detergent acts as more of a lubricant for the brush than a cleaning agent.  My 2G's are cleaned after every round with a damp cloth only, as they are new, and a soft rubber.
