Hi All

I was somewhat reluctant to post this, but after a lot of soul searching, I thought it was somewhere that of all places needed to be addressed on this fourm(I have both benifited and enjoyed this fourm)

I have been out of golf for about 16 years, bad back, work, and a lot of other things have got in the way....but my docotor said I needed a hobby, and I always loved this game, so getting back into it......I knew I needed lessons after a 16 year lay off, needed new clubs, so went to local golf shop/ driving range and got fitted for new clubs....in doing so had dealings with one of the instructors....seemed like a nice, knowledgeble guy, so paid for 6 lessons.....after 2 lessons, realized that he was way over my head in his instructions, just could not wrap my mind around all the things he was throwing at me......don't feel it was his fault, but at 59 I need things explained to me in a way I can understand them....so I took the time to tell him I thought I needed a different instructor, he was OK with that, and they had other pro's on staff, so now I took the time to pay for a single lesson from a couple of the others....but they all seemed to be reading from the same book, so went around to a couple different places and talked to different pros, and Paid for a couple of lessons from a couple of them.....bottom line....I found one that was about my age(might be a little older, but didn't ask) that when he suggested something, it made sense, he did not try to change my swing, but rather was and is trying to take what i have and maximize the results......I will never be a stratch golfer, don't have the time to practice......but know I can shoot in the low 90's to high 80's.....my step son is taking the lessons from the first Pro, he has never played golf, so is starting from scratch...so he has no preconcieved habits or ideas, and is getting a lot from the Pro.....and for me, I shot 118 first time out, shot 100 2nd time out, shot 96 last time, and am now making good contact with at least 50% of my shots...all this from the last instructor....so I guess I am suggesting that don't be afraid to change instructors, there is a difference from one teacher to another...you Pro's, do you see this,or do you have some people you can taech and others you can't? I love this forum and GOLF ROCKS ...sorry for being so long winded

I think some of the best instructors take what you have then work from there. Granted there are a lot of great instructors that take their one style and teach it to everyone. There's a guy about 45 minutes away from me who is one of the best in the state and he pretty much teaches one swing and everyone I know that goes to him is a darn good golfer.

    • Day 11: Putts with a metronome and worked on some feels for greenside shots.
    • I realize the frame cuts off my tail but wanted to specifically see my hand path and club shaft and head travel from A5 to A7 with the grip and posture work I have been doing . This might be the shallowest I have managed to get the club head to enter into impact. I like the finish much more as well.
    • Context:  I used to play golf very regularly (and when I'm playing regularly, I'm on TST regularly).  In summer 2022, I got my handicap down to a personal-best 11.9.  Unfortunately, in the three years since then, I've had far less time to play, and didn't really make the time to practice.  I've played a bit more the past few months, and I anticipate having a lot more time to practice starting in about two months, at which point I'm hoping to go back to my old practice habits (practicing daily, Evolvr lessons, spending more time on TST (come to think of it, I can do that important last part now)).   But it was thinking about how different my nines have been a few times in the past month or so that made me wonder if there was a thread here about it, and sure enough, there was.  In the past month or so, I've had a 38-46 and a 45-39.
    • Day 2 - range session. Focus on tempo. Not as good as last time, but good.
    • Happened to me today.  I was with 3 others on a par 5 around 200 yards from the green and I watch these two young girls (200 yards away, I guess 8-10) walk their bikes out onto the golf course, head right for the green and proceed to walk right through the middle of it at which point I yelled at them to get off the green which they did.  On the next green, a guy who I would think was their father, comes out screaming at us and threatening us for yelling at the girls.  He came out a second time when we were on the next tee box screaming obscenities again along with more threats.  My wife doesn't think it's my place as a member to say anything.  Your thoughts?
