I'm thinking about ditching 50 degree gap wedge that matches my set (Mizuno MX200) and am looking for some opinions. My wedge game has got much better now that I understand how bounce works and how to use it. I currently have a 56 and a 61 that are non-matching traditional (or whatever you want to call it) wedges that I use for just about all of my pitches and chips.

So, now I'm thinking I want to get a 50 in that same style of wedge. Problem is, I really like the matching gap wedge. I hit it well and have a lot of confidence with it. It's really more of an 11 iron though (PW being the 10). On shorter shots, it's just not the same as a regular wedge. I can't finesse it the same as my other wedges and this is my main reason for considering the switch out.

I'm wondering if anyone out there has done the same thing and what the results were.

I switched out my PW for one (48* Vokey) that matched the rest of my wedges; made the switch about 5 years ago.  Absolutely no regrets.  The PW from the iron set was more of an "iron", and I could hit "iron" type shots better with it.  Primarily whenever I needed to hit a shot hard, such as blast a shot out of deep rough, the PW did a better job.  However, every other shot you want to perform with a wedge was easier with the 48*:  chipping; pitching; blasting from a bunker; and controlling distance, spin, and traj on less than full shots.
