Hi everyone,

I am trying to decide between 3 sets of gigagolf clubs, the p3 irons, the trx irons and the ozzy irons.

Which ones do you think I should go with?

I am leaning toward either the p3 or the trx irons.

I like the looks of both, from the views I read that the p3's will give me more distance, but the trx control irons are built for accuracy.

Any thoughts from you guys?

If I had to get a different, name brand Iron set my choices are Adams Idea Tech a4-R, Adams RPM or maybe Wilson Ci7's

thanks,

Sebastian

The ozzies are used by one member here and apparently are good sticks. Don't buy that the 3 models differ much; they're almost exactly the same in terms of playing characteristics. All are Game Improvement irons, with thick soles and toplines, a large cavity, perimeter weighting, moderate offset, oversized heads, thin faces, and toe weighting. They will all hit the ball high and forgive hits in a larger area of the face. They will all give you distance and prevent some slices to an extent, as well as getting the ball up on thin hits and preventing digging on fat hits somewhat.

P3: Moderate lofts, lower bounce on long irons, shot peen finish. Look like Ping G10 irons.

Ozzy: Moderate lofts, chrome finish and look like Nike irons.

TRX: Have strong lofts, black or chrome finish, look like Taylormade irons.

GX922: moderate lofts, chrome finish, look like Callaway X22s. The GX922Z has a larger head, and a shot peen finish. The Z model is a bit chunkier but slightly more forgiving.

The lot of them will play damn near identical. The TRX irons will be a lower flight with a bit more distance due to the cranked up lofts, but there will be gapping issues and don't expect to be able to hit the long irons easily. The P3 have less bounce on long irons, which is good on tight lies but will dig into the turf on fat hits. The GX and Ozzy are practically interchangeable. In the end, go with the look you prefer; if you like one of the brands they copy or prefer a satin or black finish, go with that.

If I had to buy one, I'd pick the Ozzy. It has the best lofts, looks good, and costs less than most. The GX922 are OK and are pretty similar. For myself, I'd get a combo set of their blades at the moment though, since I'm looking for more of a player's club.

I currently use the GX922z and I would continue to use them if I reshafted, but I'm trying to move in a more bladey direction because the lower flight and better setup would benefit me as much as the forgiveness. Replacing the set would be cheaper than a reshaft. As I posted at great length in another thread, I need stiffer shafts. Given the choice between the best clubheads in the world with cheap shafts vs. the best shafts for me with 10$ heads in them, the latter is the clear choice. That's one reason I currently play Giga heads. They work fine when fitted properly.

If you wish to get a non Giga iron, check out the wilson Ci9s, or even the Di9/11. The Ci9s are available for 250$, and once you get past the fact that the lofts are so strong that you're using a club less (ie the PW is a 9 iron, and so on) they supposedly are very nice. Though I hate overly strong lofts, the Wilsons do it without messing up the gapping so it's a very well balanced set. You might want 2 gap wedges though, and I wouldn't consider the 20* 3 iron unless you're quite good at hitting longer irons.

    • Ok, I'm trying to find a feel to hit a consistent ball flight (irons).  My current predicament.  1. I try to do the arms down stuff better, with the club feeling like it is way behind me more. It's just a cluster of results. Most of the time, I can't get any speed on the swing. If I get my arms down faster, I just throw them out.  2. I focus all my attention on turning better. Pushing off with my left leg and getting my right side through better. On the DTL view, this doesn't produce anywhere close where the hands and club should be. The result is usually ball first contact, lower ball flight, more centered contact.  At this point, I am going with option 2. Stop thinking about what the hands do. Just make a shorter backswing, keep it wide, turn through. Somehow, the club head finds the ball. My focus is so much on just making sure I turn, it's like, "Oh, that contact was better.... Oh, that bell flight looks playable." If not, I will just be practicing my entire summer.
    • Nope, they spent too much money. They are in over 28 million on the football roster and related NIL compensation at this point. Boosters associated with any Texas college football team has HUGE sway. The AD is between a rock and a hard place. They put a lot of money into Sorsby, at the chance of winning a NC this year. If you move on, you basically wasted a lot.  This is why Ohio State wants 3 QB's they feel can start. That is why the backups the past 5 years at some point transfer. Texas Tech has no backup near the quality of Sorsby. If they move on, they are screwed for 2026.
    • Maybe there's something I still don't understand about the situation. Wouldn't Texas Tech do itself a favor to move on from Sorsby at this point?
    • Day 281 6-10 Full swing, fast, getting low point ahead of "towel".  Working on flow during this seems to help.
