One of my favorites, M. A. Jimenez, a native born Spaniard and great contender on the International golf scene, connoisseur of wines, cigars and cars, and fellow red-haired bloke  was expected to be right up near the top of the leader board for his national title. Instead, he shoots 77-80 for the first two days and misses the cut.  All i can say is 'must be a damn tough golf course'.  And fellow American, Shawn Micheel, shoots low the first day, 67 for the lead, then balloons to 77 the next. Now i must pull for Robert Rock, the hatless Brit.  Remember him?  He sent T. Woods packing out of Dubai last January.  Old T. Woods better buy a good handbag so he can get around to all the Monday qualifiers he will soon need to attend if he wants a paycheck. Me?  I'll be trying to break 100 next week. Bought a new 52* wedge a few days ago, plays real nice and so my foolish hopes are high.

I'm pretty sure Tiger isn't worried about needing to attend a Monday qualifier anytime soon for a paycheck.  I'm pretty sure he isn't worried about paychecks - period.

20 wins and you get a lifetime exemption.

Tiger has 72 wins.

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

TW is no fool. He doesn't make much money from purses, none of the good players really do. Even when he gets 10 wins a season it only amounts to a few million. He made tens of millions per year from endorsements at his peak.

He has mucho shares in Nike, as well as his other sponsors. TW signs his own paychecks.

Jeez, you sound like Mitt Romney. I'd be pretty happy with 11 million a year (which he has exceeded five times, counting unofficial events, which you must be doing if you are talking about 10-win seasons).

Looks like it's not your week. Rock has bogeyed his first three holes today.

i'm pretty sure tiger woods made more money than anyone on tour when he wasn't playing.

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
