So... I'm looking to buy some new irons since mine are too short & tbh... are shit. So I went to the golf shop & hit some iron sets and really like the Cleveland CG Golds. The next day at practice (high school golf team) I played with the coach. I started talking to him about what clubs I should buy, and if he liked his clubs (he has the CG2s). So... on a few holes, he let me use a few of his irons, & I hit them pretty good. Basically, I read a few articles on the CG4 Tours, reading that they were almost between CG2s & CG4s.

So I'm asking if anyone here has used any of these, and if you have had a good experience with them. This and any other advice is greatly appreciated.

I've hit the CG2, CG4 and CG4 Tour. I think the CG4 Tour has a great blend of playability and forgiveness. The CG2 is definitely more of a players club but still offers some forgiveness. What CG2 irons did you try? Meaning what club, 9 iron, 5 iron, etc. Typically how do you hit your irons? If you liked the CG Gold you might want to give the regular CG4 a try. I believe the Gold's are replacing the CG4 and the Red's are replacing the Tour. I imagine both models could be had at a good price now or relatively soon.

I don't know if this helps you, but next week I'm going to spend some time with the CG Red irons.

I've had the CG4 Tours for awhile and I love them. They aren't the longest irons I've ever hit but they have a great soft feel and produce a high soft shot.

I'm happy with them.

I'm pretty sure it was an 8 iron. And before I grew another 2 inches, and my clubs became too short, i was hitting my irons really well. And yeah, the CG4 & the Tours are cheaper now, around $400 now.

I'll be interested in reading that review.

thanks for the replies.

Only reason I ask is because the short irons are easier to hit. If you are looking at getting the CG4 Tour I'd demo the CG4 as well and see which one you like better. Good luck!

    • I've been putting whilst looking at the hole and it's definitely helped my distance control
    • I wonder if that is why my home course basically have no stakes now.  Not even markers.  It’s completely up to golfers to remember what is OB and hazard and how things used to be marked.     Even in tournaments, there is no marking and certain areas are played differently by different golfers who either don’t know better or use it to their advantage funny reading thru this with courses that actually have markers
    • is it though?????? "Millions of fans"?????
    • Great post, thanks for the informaiton. I try to avoid adding salt to anything I eat. I tend to add pepper on to my meals as opposed to salt. And I am trying to eat as clean on possible. On golf day, I eat 3 eggs for breakfast (pepper NO salt) and a salad for lunch, with grilled chicken thigs (pepper, garlic, no salt). I have been trying to avoid processed food, but we all slip. I also should have mentioned that the electrolyte packet calls for mixing with 16 oz of water, however I mix in 32 oz of water, so I dilute the electrolyte powder.
    • So if I read the news correctly, the PIF will not fund LIV after this season.  LIV is trying to find new funding and a number of players there are now asking about getting back to the Tour.    I am very, very concerned that Taylor Gooch will not have a place where he can make a jackass out of himself soon
