Anybody know of any good deals on range passes near the Northwest suburbs? Since my summer job won't allow me to hit the course I have been looking for a unlimited range pass for my couple hour break.

Only one I found is at the Bridges of Poplar Creek. That was around $650

Here is where I practiced when I lived in Hoffman Estates/Schaumburg (burbs).

I don't see a range pass - but I bet if you asked them they have a range/practice facility membership.  It's a pretty nice practice range/chipping/putting.  Also, where do you live?  Northwest burbs is a pretty vast area and just going from say Hoffman Estates to Mundelien for instance, could take 30 to 40mins depending on traffic.

EDIT... I see you live in Arlington Heights.

Yes sorry I should have been more specific. I live in downtown Arlington Heights.

I also forgot I am looking for a grass range.

West Chicago is about 40 minutes or so which is kind of a cruise. I was going to play there last weekend but decided against it. If I recall they have two courses. Have you played both?

Yeah it is a little haul down there - but most of it is open highway (or at least it was when I lived there back from 2000 to 2005).

I used to play there quite a bit and it is a solid public track.  The pricing was good and it is a pretty long course from what I remember.  And the greens are HUGE.  Get a laser range finder because even a GPS - the greens are so big - it is hard to get a good yardage from the fairways or even GPS as you could have 30 to 40yd differences from front to back on average.  They had two 18 hole courses - but again, it has been years since I lived there so not sure if anything changed.

For a grass range... Doesn't Markay have one?  I know that used to be Thunderbird and then sunk a lot of money into it.  I played it a few times before I moved in '05 and it was pretty solid and is near where you are.

Makray is a great track and they have made great changes. Can get pricy on the weekends around 90 with a cart. A little steep for a college student. They don't offer range passes either. I found one or 225 which was at white pines in bensenville. Not horrible but still looking.

    • Day 23: weird day, and only had a little bit of time. Just did mirror work again, working on where the elbow is in the downswing
    • I flipped over to this tonight and thoroughly enjoyed it. Anyone else watch? I picked it up during the golf relay event, but seeing these pros out having fun in alternative events was refreshing and entertaining. I’m sure it will be on in reruns in the next week or so, so I won’t spoil the outcome. Im curious what others thought of it. I’m recording it’s later airing to see the beginning.
    • Day 443 - 2025-12-17 Made a few swings in testing some things out at another academy. Might pop up on someone else's podcast in a few weeks.
    • Day 37 (17 Dec 25) - nine hole round with my good friend.  We got paired up with a couple of the men’s group regulars as part of their shootout.  Started off with a wonderful quad bogie and then a dbl on three to be six over thru three holes.  Game went 180° over the next five as I shot one under (including a chip in birdie on hole six and four up and down 1 putt pars) for a net finish of five over. What could have been a really tough nine became a solid finish due to staying in the moment and not checking out.  Great day in course management and keeping perspective .
    • Day 127 12-17 Backswing and flow practice. Took advantage of the 60 degeee weather(it was 20 degrees Sunday)
