Alright here is my dilemma i recently visited my local range in an attempt to find a problem hitting my high irons (3,4,5,6). The problem I'm finding is either I top the ball, so the trajectory is a low line drive and goes about 150 yards ( 4 iron) and in the other case i hit it of the toe so it does just about the same thing except the vibration in unbearable, especially because i just broke one of fingers. I did attempt to fix it by keeping my head down, so i stay down on the ball and I positioned the ball towards the heel of the club before i would swing. I received mix results i would make quality contact maybe once out of four attempts. In later inspection of the divots i noticed i would dig the toe a lot deeper then the heel, i think this is because I'm standing up in my swing. So please if you have any thoughts on the problem please leave a response.

And another question, should i purchase a new set of clubs because i believe the clubs have some variable in the problem. I say this because i have had my golf smith clubs since i was in eight grade and now in my second year of college so i think its time for an upgrade. lol

Thank You

Yes - upgrade to some new clubs.

Yes, even more, make sure you get fitted - for the proper length and the proper lie (the angle that the handle is at relative to the horizontal bottom of the club.

If your club is not adjusted for the proper lie, you could easily be hitting the ground with the toe of your club first.

I'm not sure how you understand how that is calculated...but, I find it difficult to believe that you have a 9.1 handicap and are experiencing these kinds of problems. Of course, it is possible that you bomb your drives, have a great short iron game and putt like a pro :) and are capable of shooting around 79.

But, that's cool dude. Hope you get the joy of some new clubs - game improvement clubs. See golfdigest.com hot list of game improvement clubs.
