Driving off the tee? Short approaches? Putting?

I ask this because yesterday I was at the range and had a miserable time at the tees. At one point I shanked a ball down the line and this kid decked out like Rickie Fowler turns and stares at me. At which point I pretended that someone behind me had done it. Yeah geez man watch out you're gonna kill someone... yeah.

So I went to the putting green to blow off some steam and had a much better time. Dropped a few putts that while not necessarily long, made me feel better, which I probably needed.

This thought occurred to me today as a result. I don't hit it straight very often but at least when I do get on the green I relax a lot more. What about you?

Favorite shot is the smooth mid or long iron approach shot on a par 4 or 5 that starts where I planned, moves how I planned, hunting the flag, hits soft and stops, leaving me a very makable birdie putt (say, inside 15 feet).  Not that I get that all that often :)

Right now, my fave part of the game is the approach shot. Not any particular approach shot, but I like the calculated swing with a short iron more than a long drive or a small chip (or putting).

I really enjoy 10-70 yards off the green. Depending on the lie, wind, and lay of the land, I could use any club in my bag. So many options, hit it high and fly to the pin, land it short of the flag and let it roll out, bump and run, Texas wedge. Really enjoy the room for imagination from these distances.

My favorite part is putting on my golf shoes because it usually means golf is to follow. Aside from that it would be a 2H off the tee with a slight draw on a tight par 4 drawing into the fairway followed by some "imagineered" wedge shot to get it close to the hole.

My favorite shots are the short game shots...........chipping/putting...etc........

Chipping and putting is where you score.......

yea, I enjoy busting a big drive and all that, but the short game is key to posting a number.
