If I select a target, take my stance, then check it by laying a club on the ground along the line of my toes, sometimes I will be aimed close to correct, but other times I will be pointing 15 or even 30 yards to the right.  I can't seem to figure out how to get myself lined up more consistently, without using some sort of prop.  Is this just a matter of tons of practice, and it will resolve itself over time, or are there any good drills I can use to help me develop a better sense of correct alignment?

What works for me is to stand behind the ball and pick my target line. I follow that target line all the way back to the ball. About 8-12 inches in front of the ball I will pick an "index" point. It could be a previous divot, leaf, etc. where I want the ball to fly over on once its been struck. I then make my address and align myself accordingly. It works well for me. It may help you.
