Hey guys

So the last two rounds I have played I shot 81, 80 respectively on a pretty difficult course. But the problem is the first round I had 37 putts and then next time I had 38 putts. Shooting 80 with 38 putts to me is both strange and frustrating, mostly frustrating though. I am a good lag putter and pretty feel fine about my putting in general. Its those damn 10-15 footers that that kill me. If I hit it to 25-30 feet I roll the ball to 5 feet and two putt no problem. But its those putts where I feel like I should be able to make at least half that I just miss. Some are real benders that I will just kind of baby down there and take my medicine but there are others that are up hill green light and still I will burn the edge. Is there any drills you guys do besides just going out to the putting green and hitting a bunch of 10-15 footers? Think I just might be a head case, any one else have this problem?

Your expectation of making 1/2 of your 15 footers is misplaced.  You just won't make very many of them.  In fact, for PGA Tour pros the 50/50 distance (make/miss) is under 8 feet.

Forget practicing 10-15 footers. Concentrate your practice on lag putts (30-50 feet) and short putts (4-6 feet).  If, as you say, you are leaving yourself 5 foot putts from 25-30 feet, then you really are not a very good lag putter to begin with.

Ok fair enough, what I should have said is anything from 5 feet and in. Which I feel very comfortable that I will make

If you say you are a good lag putter, and make everything under five feet, then how on earth can you take 37 or 38 putts per round?  That implies at least a couple of 3-putts, and no up-and-downs. Something is amiss.

Generally there is one or two three putts but every green seems to be a two putt. Whether that be from 25 feet or 10 feet. I guess a better way to put it would be I cant one putt unless I absolutely stick it.
