Hi,

I'm a complete beginner in golf. I gripped the club 2 weeks ago and am really excited about this new thing in my life. I couldn't afford professional swing lessons, so I learn how to swing mainly from books I borrowed from library, videos on internet, and websites.

Some books/websites say the weight should be distributed evenly between heel and ball (mid feet), but others say it should be on the balls of the feet. Which one do you think is correct?

You always should be balanced.

Michael Breed, on the Golf Channel, always talks about being in a solid athletic stance. If somebody tries to push you, you don't fall over.

So you weight should be distributed evenly with the toes and heels of your feet.

I have tried to use mid feet, but always lose my balance after impact. But this probably is caused by my incorrect swing technique.

I do believe athletic stance would be balls of feet, the point where you can lift your toes AND your heels and maintain balance.

My front foot. I need to feel pressure there throughout the entire swing in order to push my hips forward effectively. The weight/pressure there increases gradually during the backswing, and to start my downswing I feel the pressure increase dramatically. Per your question though, it's somewhere between the balls of my feet and the mid foot. I don't think about that though.

If you're losing your balance after impact. It's not your stance, it's your follow through.

Work on a nice balanced follow through. Just watch how the pros do it when you see them on tv. Imitate that move.
