Yesterday I played 9 holes and decided to change the swing plane on my driver since I'd been struggling with it a lot.  Before this point my swing plane on Irons/Driver had pretty much been the same.

I decided to make my backswing more flat or less steep to try to prevent my OTT swing that was causing slices.  It worked tremendously.  I had 7/9 fairways and hit the ball farther than I ever had.

My question is should my swing plane for irons/driver be different?  If not, should I change my iron swing play to match that of my driver?

Some high ranking teachers say yes the driver should be a different swing. Since a lot of people teach hitting up on the ball with a driver it just makes sense that it would be the case.  So if you are trying to hit up then yes flatter is better.  Now whether a person is actually hitting up, down or flat is another matter left for a launch monitor.

Your driver swing should definitely be flatter in my opinion.  Even if you want to have the same swing with each club, more or less, the driver has a pretty high lie angle and very long shaft, so you're going to be standing a little taller at setup, so if your swing is the same relative to your spine angle, you'll have a shallower plane.

Easy to overdo the going flatter thing.  For me at least the feel of flatter results in a real plane shallower than how it feels.
