Bar / Clubhouse levy

As a club we are discussing the instigation of a bar / clubhouse levy.

May I please use this forum to ask

1. Whether the club, of which you are a member, has such a levy included in the annual subscription?

2. As a percentage, what is the levy compared to the rest of your subscription?

3. If your club does not have a levy, would you leave the club if such a levy was imposed?

• Proposed amount of levy
• Purpose of levy - what will money money collected be used for

Between 5% and 10% of annual subscription.

Levy must be spent in the clubhouse.  If spent on drink, it will attract a 25% discount, if spent in the pro shop 10% discount.  No discount on food.

My club has a $2100 food / drink fee minimum that is split into three payments throughout the year, works out to $175 / month.  If you entertain business partners then it's not an unreasonable fee.  We also have a $250 / year driving range / pro shop fee.

How much is your annual subscription? - $2100 seems a very large levy, but if your subscription is, say, $30,000 then perhaps not.
