I've been golfing for years and it seems like just over the past 12 months I can't get off my left side during my back swing. The harder i try, the more i just flip my hands at the ball with no power behind it. I always seem to fall away from the ball and loose my balance at impact. I'm a single digit who relies heavily on his short game. I'm just looking for a drill that would help me get through the ball at impact and not fall away from it. Any suggestions?

I would suggest the "Gary Player drill". Literally walk through your shot. Natalie Gulbis' coach had her doing this for awhile also.

Revisit the grip.  Place each and every finger on the grip deliberately.  I find that the body tries to control when the hands are not due to sloppy connection. With a deliberate solid connection a person can use a small muscle hands and arms swing. With out ot there is no way.

+1 --subtle grip changes lead to plane changes.

When I fall away I look to my right hand dominating at transition of downswing. Clears up when I keep hands balanced.

I am cursed to be like 95% right hand dominant. I too STRUGGLE for hand balance

    • Day 360: did some slow swings, looking for feels to get my hands forward without my hips moving super far forward.
    • Day 75 (15 Jul 25) - Wedge work today in the backyard.  Focused on setup and  dialing in on immediate target line point in front of club. This drill helps me to center on longer range targets for tee shots as well as approaches.
    • I still need to do my pieces better.  Still a little steep in the downswing. Hands could get better depth earlier in the backswing.  This shot started left of target and went left. Probably path was out, face was closed a lot.       At A5, it’s probably the best it’s been.  I need to feel more shallowing from A5 to A6. Hands need to go straight down and club needs to shallow. I need to turn. I am just way too closed here. Just trying to buy time to lower the arms. Everything stalls from time to time. Timing is highly variable. Not a big fan of the slight EE.  I am just hanging back at impact.

    • Well, on a "Bummer Note,"  I borrowed a Great Big Bertha driver, a 5 wood, and a 7 iron. I did not do very well but did shoot a 112 playing both right and left handed.   So, I decided to take a breather and play golf on my Play Station 5 and not play any real golf until the new set of clubs get her.  So, I will be back in  a week or so and bring everyone up to date.    Retired Old Man = Terry
