My lag putting from 20-25 feet has been awful. About three weeks ago it started to happen. I thought I could fix it though because I started trying to make 20-25 footers and I was blowing them by the hole. So about a week ago I stopped doing that. I am now just trying to play them with in 3 feet everytime, and I can't do it. 5 Three-Putts today shows that this is the biggest problem in my game!

I read this really fantastic tip by Leadbetter a while ago in a certain Golf Digest (I think) that suggests that on lag putts you should think of throwing a ball underhand towards the hole with your right hand and use that motion as well as standing a little bit taller, it has worked fantastically so far for me.

Oh, I just found the image:

"The general knowledge in the United States about Australia is low. Everybody thinks we ride kangaroos to school. You don't ever take a kangaroo to school. You take them to the supermarket because you can put groceries in the pouch. "

Ill have to try this. Thanks man.

I just practiced for a half hour before I saw this, wish I could have practiced this. I used the "two tee" method to make sure I was coming through the putt, accelerating, and making sure I keep my putter face on line....Im putting much better, I just played another 9 holes (27 holes on the day haha) and I shot a 40 which was much better then the 45 and 42 earlier.

Not sure if this will help, but I kinda took Mickelson's putting method with a touch of mine.
I align the ball in front of center, closer to my front foot. I keep a triangle, but the front arm is closer to a 90* of the triangle and I tilt back a bit and tilt my head a bit to get my right eye (right hand hitter) aligned with the ball and the direction I'm putting. Still make your putting stroke with stiff arms and wrists while only rotating the shoulders.
By getting my right eye closer and directly over and behind the ball I got a better vision of the green and it's terrain to sink more 10ft and in putts while eliminating 3 putt's.

    • Day 5: did a stack session. Did some slow swings between sets, working on hands down.
    • So, I might have to get out of the C-Taper golf shaft. I have an older Mizuno with a KBS Tour shaft in. I was messing around with closing my eyes and feeling where the weight of the club is being felt at. The C-Taper was all in my fingers. I didn't feel much of anything of the club head or shaft of the club. It felt super heavy in my hands. The KBS Tour I could feel a weight further away from my hands, out in space.  The Mizuno weights 2 grams more, but is about 2-3 swing weights lighter than my current irons.  So, yea. I am thinking I might sense the club better with maybe a less stout golf shaft and maybe a lighter swing weight. Probably more to do with the golf shaft. I am thinking the feeling of the weight out in space is more of the shaft loading more easily.
    • Day 25 (2 Apr 26) - Worked on green side chips at the course before helping with the school golf tournament today.  Worked on low flighted spinners to get solid hop and stops.
    • Day 227 4-2 Chest and hip turn with flow drill. Trying to get a rhythm to the hip movement/less segmented feeling.
    • A bit back at it tonight. I just wanted to add in the feel of a softer left arm through out the backswing. This helps me hinge the club. I make sure I am not bending it a ton, but not straightening it. It helps feel like I can keep the club in front of me more and lift the club up sooner.
