Hi guys - I just found this site and thought a might give it a try.
I have been struggling with my swing since a started playing so I actually quit for some years. Then I decided too start again and began with a pro video lesson. The pro said that I should try too remake my swing from the ground up and try a 2-plane swing instead of the 1-plane swing I was struggleling with (my body is too stiff not athletic enough too make a 1-plane swing).

So that is what I did - made a CTRL+ALT+DELETE on my swing and took the year off from the golf course and spend the whole spring and summer on the driving range, trying too get a 2-plane swing instead. As input I have used Jim Hardy's book and some YouTube-clips on 2-plane swings.

The current result is a much better ball strike and when I hit it well I hit the ball much longer than I ever thought I was capable of (without using so much power). I am not done yet by far and I know there are many things that needs to improve but I would like to get a second opinion and hear your comments as well.

I apologize for the bad video quality.

I've been Playing Golf for: 8 years

My current handicap index or average score is: handicap 17 (with my old swing)

My typical ball flight is: high with a fade

The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: Slice

Thanks

Thomas

I'd work on staying connected with your arms better.  It also looks like your shoulder turn should be more vertical - instead of horizontal.

Hi - thank you for your response. But isn't what you are suggesting a more one-plane swing? I thought the two-plane swing should have somewhat disconnected arms and horizontel shoulder plane? The following article describes this for a two-plane: http://www.golftoday.co.uk/proshop/features/2010/plane_talk_one_two_plane_swings.htm Most distinctively, their arms swing independently of the rotation of their body. In the backswing, the armsmove in amore upright plane, with the shoulders rotating on a relatively flatter plane. Typically, in order to create sufficient swingwidth, the left arm 'disconnects' fromthe left chest, while the body shifts slightly to the right. But you may be right - maybe I am exxaggerate this too much in my swing? Thanks Thomas

Hi crexes, yes the instructional tips - and swing mechanics I follow and commented on are based on a single plane back swing.  I apologize for the comment about staying connected, as I didn't read your first post - just watched the video. LOL  Sorry about that.

I still think even with a two plane swing... Your shoulder turn needs to be more vertical versus horizontal.

    • Day 329 - More full swings, focusing on the finish. Started with half swings, finished with full swings.
    • Day 146: mirror work again. Working on the same backswing stuff.
    • Didn’t get back to a decent routine in November and December as planned.  I really need to get up earlier and get to the 7 am CrossFit class… but I’m too tired. Right now getting in 3 times a week. Going to get some swing speed exercises in too.  January-April should be Monday - Friday, load up on supplements too.
    • “The stuff legends are made of…” 😁 As long as OEM’s keep replacing them…. But if it cracks 2 years in, you’re screwed on the warranty. the Cobra Dark Speed driver gets rave reviews.  Haven’t heard of breakage issues.  Taylormade now came out with the Qi35 heads.  Absolutely stunning but it’s a carbon fiber sole as well as the face and crown.  I guess we’ll see.
    • Day 71 - 2024-12-10 I spent three minutes trying to figure out when someone started calling me Yoda, even though he remains the only person to call me Yoda… then in a hotel room, I spent ten minutes while watching the 2019 Masters on YouTube (the TV doesn't have Golf Channel) working on my wrist conditions.
