It's usually the opposite: four foursomes and a lone single.

yes in those situations common courtesy is nice.

if we really want to get the POP issue resolved.. the COURSES have to push the issue and membership needs to force the issue to the course managers. telling a player that hes going to slow isnt going to do much because chances are he thinking " F U , you dont own the place". get the people that DO own the course, and they will listen. this is probably more easily done at a private club instead of a public course where they depend on all walks of life to pay up.

And yet at a private club, I could see the argument that it's even tougher to do because a lot of guys pay more to play there than at a public course, or at the very least pay monthly and not literally "just for this round."

I'm fairly convinced - and it saddens me to think this - that the POP issue in the U.S. will never be solved because of jerks like the one who started this thread who think it's their right, because they've paid a few bucks, to take as long as they want. Customers get pissed off when rangers tell them to speed up. They get pissed off when pro shops try to enforce a pace of play. They get pissed when the group behind them, tired of waiting, hits into them. Everyone just gets so pissed these days, and being pissed typically results in two things: violence or lawsuits (or both). Neither are good. It's all an attitude problem. People, like you say, are more likely to say "You don't own the place" rather than "gee, I'm sorry, I didn't realize I was inconveniencing you. I apologize." It's rude. It's selfish. And it's completely American. I wrote about it here .

    • Typically less than 50. I find this can be affected by the "CART" signs on a given course. I don't like taking my rangefinder out of the cart and carrying it around to the green. I am very fearful I will leave it somewhere.
    • First ever holed out greenside bunker shot! It's crazy it took this long to finally get one during a round, but the cold streak is officially over. Hole 6 on the Palmer Course at PGAN. I hit my driver like 225 into a really stiff wind, then worm burned a hybrid into the bunker. I was about I dunno, 40-45 feet away. Birdie! Let's go! The red Xs the approximate location of each shot.  Really fun!!
    • Day 23: Rained all day, so no ball hitting. Worked indoors on top of the backswing feel, and also putted around the living room working on bead.
    • Played Four Oaks in Dracut today going back to the 2 man scramble match play format. My brother and I shot a team 81 winning 3 and 2. Had so many good shots today using a more centered turn. Seems to have really iginited my golf game. We'll see if I can keep it going.
    • I read about him.  Hopefully we have a good “Next Generation” in PGAT future
