Other than the hat, shirt, headcover, etc that you get for joining what are the other benefits of Club Cameron?

I believe notification of special events, new models in the pipeline and you get first option when new models are available.I think also some of the LTD edition heacovers etc are either only offered to / offered to members first, before the public.

If your a collector these are great benefits. If your not i guess you'd have to be thinking ...." why on earth.."

I know a guy locally (northern Virginia, US) who's a member and actually got Scotty to build him a custom, hand made GSS Newport 2 as well as a Protoype Red X. Both are GORGEOUS!
He also has a Scotty Cameron AOP leather staff bag---not the one Scotty's website.

This fella's a collector and was actually selling a Davis Love Newport Beach in the 3x black finish. Davis used this one but didn't like the way it set up...so DL3 sent it back to Scotty and it ended up Northern VA.

I'd say membership has it's privelages!

Hi guys,

First post and this looks like a cool place. I'm a Club Cameron member and can tell you what you get: 1) The ability to email Scotty and ask him questions via Garagetalk 2) Read about and see pictures from Scotty projects and Tour visits 3) Preview new Putters before the public does 4) The ability to buy accessories before the public does. Some of these items are more limited than others and frequently members will flip them on ebay for a profit. What you will not get is access to limited or custom putters. They don't sell putters to club members. For a time the restoration and authentification service was for members only but, now its open to the public. When you have a chance, check the authentification online lookup as there are some awesome putters there.

I've heard you have special access to putter covers and clothing. Anything else you can elaborate on?
So in your opinion is it worth the $94 a year?

There are limited runs of putters covers, shirts, pivot tools, etc. They always end up on ebay, some go more than list but most don't. Most people who sign up for CC, auction off the membership kit and get all if not most of there money back. The limited pre-public release items are now usually limited to 1 item per member because some members would buy a few and then auction them off on ebay for a profit. If the limited items are not sold out to the CC members first, then they go to the public store. On most items, you will end up finding them cheaper on ebay. This is because people with Titleist accounts can buy CC merchandise at their account level discounts.

Is it worth $94.00 a year? That's a very subjective question like is a driver or putter worth $300.00? The collector community is pretty split on it too. Some wait for ebay others join out of Loyalty to Scotty and make their money back on things they don't want. I've joined the past few years and felt I've got my money's worth but, its really about how you reason it out. There are probably 1500 CC members and the runs usually are around a 1k per item. You rarely get access to the real Tour products like anything with a Circle T on it.

Can't beat the Caddyshack Gopher....'I'm alright, don't nobody worry 'bout me....'

Sorry I digress.

I can't remember if he wanted 1500 or 3000. Either way it was out of my range. I see him at the range at least once a week. If you're still interested, I can ask when I see him again--just let me know.

He's a collector and said he has at least 20 or so one of kind Scottys (I've only seen his Newport 2 GSS and Red X prototype).

Put him in touch with me. He may just want to co-author a story on the site, eh?

Erik,

You really want to talk with Bill Vogeney. Vogeygolf@aol.com . He moderates the Cameron Yahoo fan club and he and David Levine wrote the Cameron book "Art of Putters". Very nice guy to talk to.

I usually do it...but that's just so I can get access to the other stuff that they sell 'exclusively' or otherwise to the CC members.

I'll bet in a year, the backpack will fetch $150.

    • My two cents? Don't. As a beginner that's interested in learning about the golf swing, you'll find yourself consuming a lot of information, most of which isn't even relevant to your own swing. You need to learn you can't think your way to a good golf swing. Focus on the one thing that you're working on and doing that on every swing, come what may. And remember, mishits happen.
    • Day 6 (7 May 24) - More work in the backyard focused on tempo in addition to setup.  Worked with 6 and 7 irons hitting hard foam balls - used the old MacGregor irons to mix it up a little.
    • No! lol. But they have to be in the right sequence to play mid-handicap golf or little better. Mostly. And even in that there is range/margin for error in the motions and positions that most normal humans can handle. It helps if you have a decent idea of how a golf club moves around the body like you would any other equipment sports (baseball and hockey might be the closest) After all, fairways are 40 yards wide. Don't overthink it. Be diligent in getting basics right. I will concede that it is harder than it sounds but it certainly is not exact angle/exact position/exact degree of bend/exact speed/exact facial expression, etc, every.... single.... time or the result is horrible death.
    • Looking to play in the Severna Park Golf league and it got rained out the first three weeks. I know the course is being renovated so it is not in great shape but the location is easy for me and I would love to meet some other golfers in my area. Anyone here in Maryland Annapolis area?
    • I like to look at the positives.  Overall you are fairly consistent down the center with most shots 20 yards or less off center.  On most fairways that should be in play.  Sure, you had some very short duds, but also if you look there is a good cluster in the 110-125 yard range.  Sure, we would all like to be longer, but knowing your typical shot is more important than trying to hit the 7-Iron 175 Yards.  Just take more club for longer shots and do not worry about it.  Your distances may increase as you improve over time so do not get caught up on that now.
