Hi every body!

I'm a newbe from Viet Nam, 23 yrs-old-girl, just completed university. I'm into golf for years but now have started playing it. So, i have no experience about golf, especially the meaning of handicap index (i'm totally crewed up about it).

I don't know much about rules and golf set. I am so excited being one member in here.

So nice to know everybody.

nice to see someone so excited about golf.     I've been playing 2 years, and have played as much as humanly possible in that time (if I told you how many times I've played, you wouldn't believe it).      It's a great game, and the better you get, the more you will want to play.     I just wish I started when I was your age - welcome !!

Thank so much for greeting me with your thinking. I thought it's a bit late for those at my age ^^ starting to play golf. Now I know i was wrong..^^..I have a small budget for golf set, $1000. I hope it's ok. And I think i have to learn from you and other members here alot.

You could get a first rate golf set with that budget ... I bought my wife a very nice set at a sporting goods store for $150 on year end clearance - it's fine & all she'll need for a few  years until she gets good enough to know what she really wants & gets properly fitted.     I wouldn't drop that kind of money on clubs as a beginner - just get a nice set for 1/4 of that budget & save some of that money for a few lessons & maybe tee times !

Oh, thanks a lot for your opinion. I don't know what difference between Golf Set and Golf Club. If they mean like I think,as a starter, I just need 3 or 4 sets, is that right?

I just meant, that as a beginner, you could buy something like this http://www.ebay.com/itm/2012-Wilson-Ultra-Ladies-Womens-Package-Golf-Clubs-Set-with-Bag-and-Covers-/390421814384?pt=Golf_Clubs&hash;=item5ae6f41c70 and it would be fine for a few years until you progressed to the point where you would benefit from spending alot of money on an expensive set of clubs.  Good luck !

Thanks so much inthehole . I visited the link and was so interested in the set. I asked my friend to order it for me and now the only problem is shipping to my country. I hope it all runs well. And again, so grateful for your recommending. Thanks to you, a lot of my girl friends can afford playing golf.

I just didn't know what "handicap" means, but I could not type "0" on handicap blank, so I typed 1 ^^..but I try my best to get that level and thanks a lot for your compliment. I love to make friends with you and other members here..:))

Handicap is a system that allows players of all abilities to compete under certain rules and the lower your number the better the player is.To obtain a 1 handicap usually takes years of practice and a reasonable amount of athleticism, players are usually proud of themselves if they reach this type of proficiency at golf.

Wow, so amazing. I wonder where you're from and live now. Maybe there're lots of Vietnamese people in your state or near your house..I do love Pho ^^, just like you. And if you were in my city now, I think I can help you find out more delicious food at low price. And I'm running a cafeshop and a Thailand fashion shop. I wish I can offer you my own glasse of cafe sua da. ^^

    • Idk but I would have to imagine that a putter that is aimed where you think it's aimed would be the most important aspect of a putter

    • Nothing exposes low point control, and for that matter the general quality of ball striking like tight lies. Lol! I am at a crossroad. My days of playing with a super strong left hand grip are coming to an end it seems. I'm finding it increasingly difficult to maintain proper face control through impact as the club face naturally wants to turn over. The quality of strike and ball flight difference when I weaken the grip is stark. Problem is a weaker grip is at odds with my poor sore left forearm which I have been nursing for last few days after 3 days of demanding golf. As of now I will continue my 'transition' to a weaker grip with woods and hopefully my forearm will condition as I go along. Maybe someday I'll get to a normal address with irons too.
