Thought i'd post this as it may strike a chord, not blowing smoke up my a&se.; Started playing a couple of times a week this year and taken it seriously to get my handciap down. Had never been below 100 before. Got my first ever handicap of 24 in march. Spent lots of time on range hitting it as far as i could. Then a few weeks ago i realised my short game was rubbish. Spent days and days just hitting ap 7 iron 20 yards and then putting practise - found this really really boring, i just wanted to be smacking my driver on the range. Then i just thought i wanted to be a bogey player as a goal this year - so my mindset has been 6 on a 5 etc DONT GO FOR GREEN etc.. The last 2 rounds a revelation. Play safe. Which i thought was not the way to play- but it is, Occasionaly if you go for a 6 on a 5 you make par etc. Its just clicked and i shot a 12 over today off my 21 handicap. I didn'nt keep a running track of my score just kept it simple and got it in. No hero shots at all Just play like and old boy and keep it in play! Thought i'd share this as it seems simple when it works. As a high hanicapper i thought i should play like a pro - but just use your shots amd play it safe every time. I thought it wasn'nt that thrilling but hey use the shots! Just shot a 45 stableford +12 and i am buzzing so much i don't think i'll sleep tonight. I could die tommorow and be happy. Cheers Baz Uk

Hahhaah, congrats on a great score. That's what I'm attempting to do as well now. Some days it works, some days it doesn't but I'm getting closer.
