Sorry to start ANOTHER one of these threads but i figure you guys know what your talking about and could help me out with my swing.

This is a shot using a 5 iron, it went about 175metres (190 Yards) and dead straight, which is usually how i hit it.

This may seem not too bad however i know my swing is not very good, and am looking to improve.
I have been told i am very stiff throughout my swing, and i use ALOT of forearm, i basically snap down onto the ball.

Sorry for the angle taken its all i have on my computer, ill get a side on when im on the course next.

So if you could please have a look and give me some tips.

Thankyou

I'd love to help, but YouTube sucks. You can't go frame by frame or even easily slow down motion. If you have the video in some QuickTime or even Windows media format, please post a link to the file itself if you can host it somewhere.

It seems you're a little more bent than most people. I'd suggest standing more upright, let your arms hang naturally, and perhaps don't fold your arms quite so quickly on the backswing.

That is a good start for a swing, one thing i notice is that on your backswing you start inside and then adjust the swing at the top so you swing straight on on the forward swing, Its good that you adjust at the top but to ensure and even better swing every time. Try drawing the club straight back on the backswing instead of going inside. Imagine a straight line, straight back through the backswing, try that.

    • Was this the course with 9 blind shots in the first 9 holes?
    • Woof. Not good. 8:40 to 8:50, blah. I know the grip is turned a bit to the left in that part of the video (face is closed a bit), but… no. Not that.
    • Eh. You're tricking yourself. You can still miss right or left, and what you've created is a situation where you HAVE to miss (but the right amount) to make the putt. That's not for me.
    • I can see a point in this.  If you play a straigth 3 footer with a square face aiming at the hole, you can miss both ways, with a close face or an open one. If you aim rigth an close the face at impact (like tiger used to do), physically you can still miss left or rigth but mentally you are only missing left (closed face) and having only 1 miss can give you a boost in confidence. I putt this way on fade putts and aim left and open the face on draw putts, never liked the uncerteinty of putting square to the target.  I apply something like this on approach shots, only use low or high shots and for middle shots I use a low shot with more loft ot a high shot with less loft. This shots are always what they meat low or high, a middle one can go a little towards the high and the low depending on the AoA of each shot making it mentally a little more uncertain what is going to be.
