This past season has been my best season of golf got my handicap down to a 5 however with some questions people asking me are you one plane or two. I am starting to confuse myself and I have been messing up my swing with so much thinking. I was hoping people could state what I am and critique my swing since I have lots of pulls and pushes now. Plus some shanks. Lots of my ball marks are closer to hossel. I think I am a one plane but on my follow through its to high.. Looks like one plane, but with a bit of an out to in move. Your follow through is the last thing to give attention to, and if you try to intentionally pose it you'll look like a dumbass. If you hit a good shot, you'll be in a good position on the follow through, or people will be looking at the ball flight instead.

Shoulders and arms on the same angle: 1 plane. Hands above the shoulder line and dropping down onto plane in the downswing: 2 plane.

So my downswing is looking like its out to in?

You wouldn't be hitting pulls if it wasn't, and it looked like your alignment or setup might be off. This camera angle showed the shaft to be reasonably close to plane, but the ball seems to start on a pull trajectory in the ones I watched. Maybe you're just putting the ball in the wrong position, too close (especially if shanking), etc. You could also have a timing problem with your arms, make sure you sync up with your lower body. I went through a shanking/heel hit phase, it was because I was out of position and had to reroute out to in to hit the ball. Check your fundamentals.

Your turn looks pretty good though, but it's hard to tell much else from the video.

Swing looks good. Only thing I notice is the club looks a little hooded going back and at the top. Do you have trouble with a hook?

Take the club back halfway. The toe should be more-or-less pointing straight up. Take the club all the way to the top and have someone take a picture. You want to see the clubhead parallel to the right forearm. The picture below of Phil illustrates what I'm talking about. (Disregard the yellow circles) Also notice that his right wrist is flat and in plane with his right arm. I'm not suggesting that you need to go out and change your swing. But if you start fighting a hook, this might be a good place to start.

Right, because Phil Mickelson never hooks it... Good advice but bad model.

Some players have a bowed wrist, like Dustin Johnson, and still hit good shots. But in general if you keep that angle neutral you'll have better clubface control. If you let it get away from neutral, you'll need compensations to hit good shots. This could not only affect consistency, but it could hurt your timing and power. Make sure you're using an appropriate grip in terms of strong vs weak.

    • I agree with @dennyjones, a suspension of some meaningful duration would be better than getting bounced from the Tour. They might consider experimenting each week. It might generate a bit of interest. I like the idea of a visible shot clock. If a player and their caddy can’t decide on a strategy and pull the trigger in XX seconds (30? 45? 60?), one stroke penalty. Give each player 2 resets a round. The clock starts when the last player to hit’s ball stops moving. Other pace ideas could be used every couple events until a consensus is reached to adopt or ditch an idea.
