The stronger lofts coming out now on the game improvement irons are to counteract the low and deep center of gravity on these irons. I hit an R7 XD 7 iron and RAC LT 7 iron side by side. The XD 7 iron loft is 30* and RAC 7 iron (original model) loft is 35* I found no appreciable distance gain with the XD. I hit the XD much higher with a lot less roll and the RAC LT had a much more boring trajectory. The biggest difference to me wasn't the loft of the irons but trying to figure out where I want to land the ball. There is definitely an adjustment to be made when playing these strong lofted game improvement irons but total distance doesn't seem to be one of them in my testing. I'm sure other opinions will vary.

Yes, to parallel this, the 695.CB is two degrees stronger than the equivalent 695.MB model, yet they launch at about the same angle, which lets golfers create blended sets without any funny gaps.

Loft and launch angle aren't always the same, of course. Low CG = higher ballflight (and vice versa).

In my quest to find an iron thats not going to balloon like crazy and give me the distance i feel my swing speed warrants.. I went searching for the strongest lofted iron sets on the market and heres what i came up with.

I'd suggest that you think about changing your shafts to get a lower ball flight. They have a much bigger influence on ball flight than loft.
