Optimizing Driver Numbers

Hi all, just some quick background information before my question: I currently play an Adams Speedline 9064LS, 10.5°, stock Aldila RIP Gamma shaft, S flex. My swing speed is in the 105-110 range on average and I play a straight or push fade. Anyway, I went to a golf store today (one of those chain stores) and swung it on their launch monitor and I noticed my numbers weren't exactly optimal: 13° launch and 3900 rpm backspin. I always thought the 9064LS is a low spin club? Is this a result of swing flaws or something I need to address with the club set up? How can I reduce the backspin without messing up my launch angle?

It could be a swing flaw (without seeing a swing, its hard to say for sure) but I would take a look into the shaft. My suggestion is get a fitting. The shaft can make a world of a difference. I play the same club and when tested, I had low spin numbers.

Yea, I know for a fact that my swing is far from ideal so that definitely will contribute to the problem. I got fit for this club when it first came out (2010 I think?) and back then I didn't know anything about launch monitor numbers so I don't recall how mine came out; I bought the club because I hit it more consistently than the original Speedline. I got the fitting at one of those chain stores though, and it's my understanding that they don't exactly do comprehensive fittings. If I remember correctly, I just hit a couple of clubs straight off the rack as well as my Speedline and that's how we decided on the 9064LS. We never discussed or tried any other shaft combinations. There's so much information with shafts that I haven't been able to really get into it, but I guess I'll have to do some more research. I'm currently looking for a better clubfitter as well.

Also, consider what ball you're playing. When it gets warmer, see if you can cross paths with Bridgestone at a ball-fitting. You can do a side-by-side with your current ball and a recommended Bridgestone and get launch data on both.

I supposedly will pick up 11 yards on my drives if I go from a Topflite Gamer to an Bridgestone e6, but I've got some boxes of Gamers left over. Also, I'll have to see how the e6 does on partial wedge shots. (e6 supposedly has a shallower descent angle to increase roll)

I definitely want to do a more comprehensive fitting and I'll see if I can play around with shaft options if possible. As for the ball, I play a Taylormade Penta which I have no complaints about. I used to play Pro V1x and before that, the Callaway Tour ix. I liked the Tour ixs, but the Pentas are just fine in my opinion. I've honestly never gave Bridgestones any thought, but I'll give them a try at a ball fitting like you suggested. I should probably go to more of those events they have at the golf stores.
