Hey guys,

has anyone had any experience with either of these two putters in the circa charcoal mist series? I have used them both in a retail store and felt amazing, am very close to purchase, but I am not sure which to go for? #2 or #3, any suggestions? what are the different necks for? forward press etc? or is it simply a feel thing?

Has anyone tried/bought this putter and how does it perform/compare to the circa 62 black and other scotty putters?

Any suggestions?

Thanks guys from downunder!

I have a Circa #2 in my bag currently with last years shiny finish and a new Circa #3 in Charcoal Mist that is on it's way the to Custom Shop to be shortened 1/2" and have a stitch back leather grip installed.

I putt well with the #2. I don't press and keep the ball pretty much centered in my stance. The biggest advantage I'm hoping for with the charcoal mist finish is to kill the glare on sunny days. I had to raise and lower the tip with the #2 today to kill the glare and a few times I felt a little awkward. As for the different necks I don't notice too much difference when I'm putting. I plan to place the #3 in my bag once I get it back from the CS. Of course I still average about 36 or 37 putts a round so I'm not sure I know what I'm talking about LOL.

I have the #3 with the plumbers neck and it feels very nice, I would highly reccomend it.

I have the #1 in mist and #3 in black, the charcoal mist is more durable, but in my opinion the black looks nicer but is more likely to rust. the ironic thing is the #2 is better suited to my eye. So who knows when I stumble on a good deal I'll be adding it to my collection

So there is a chorcoal mist finish and a black finish? I'm looking at the Circa 62 (I forgot which number) but how do I know what finish it has? I've heard that the Circa 62 is very hard to maintain and if I'm buying a $300 putter then it better stay in great shape for a long time. I do take very good care of my clubs but still, I'd be annoyed if the thing started to look like a piece of crap quickly.

The black is like bluing on a shotgun. You just need to wipe it down after use with a light coating of baby oil and it will be fine. The difference is rather obvious if you are looking at the clubs. One is silver and the other is much darker. The black finish Circa also came with a yellow/black Circa head cober while the newer CM finished clubs come with a red Milled Putter head cover.

I have both finishes as well as a Pro Platinum and they all are nice as long as you wipe them down. the Pro Plat is probably the most durable but I haven't seen the CM after prolonged use so it may be every bit a tough as the Pro Plat.

Thanks for the post. Which of the Circa finishes is more durable? I heard one of them (last year's model I think) is hard to maintain and one rainy day would ruin the damn thing. Did they come out with the "newer" finish because of this problem? Maybe I should just get a Studio

The newer one with the read headcover, with the finish called Charcoal Mist is far more durable.

All you need to do is wipe it down after a round and it looks good as new, which really isn't much maitenance at all.

2006 circa model has gunblue finish (shiny) while the 2007 model is the charcoal mist. you can differentiate the two by the head as well. has yellow lettering on the sole for the 2006 while the 2007 CM finish has red lettering (matches the headcovers)

    • Ok, I'm trying to find a feel to hit a consistent ball flight (irons).  My current predicament.  1. I try to do the arms down stuff better, with the club feeling like it is way behind me more. It's just a cluster of results. Most of the time, I can't get any speed on the swing. If I get my arms down faster, I just throw them out.  2. I focus all my attention on turning better. Pushing off with my left leg and getting my right side through better. On the DTL view, this doesn't produce anywhere close where the hands and club should be. The result is usually ball first contact, lower ball flight, more centered contact.  At this point, I am going with option 2. Stop thinking about what the hands do. Just make a shorter backswing, keep it wide, turn through. Somehow, the club head finds the ball. My focus is so much on just making sure I turn, it's like, "Oh, that contact was better.... Oh, that bell flight looks playable." If not, I will just be practicing my entire summer.
    • Nope, they spent too much money. They are in over 28 million on the football roster and related NIL compensation at this point. Boosters associated with any Texas college football team has HUGE sway. The AD is between a rock and a hard place. They put a lot of money into Sorsby, at the chance of winning a NC this year. If you move on, you basically wasted a lot.  This is why Ohio State wants 3 QB's they feel can start. That is why the backups the past 5 years at some point transfer. Texas Tech has no backup near the quality of Sorsby. If they move on, they are screwed for 2026.
    • Maybe there's something I still don't understand about the situation. Wouldn't Texas Tech do itself a favor to move on from Sorsby at this point?
    • Day 281 6-10 Full swing, fast, getting low point ahead of "towel".  Working on flow during this seems to help.
