Hi all,

I've been in the hunt for an instructor for sometime now. I'm actually looking for a "coach" so to speak. Someone who has as much interest in seeing me improve as I do. Sometimes I feel as if tho an instructor is just running you through the paces as he waits for the next student. I don't want that again.

Doing my research, I just signed up for my first lesson with Marty Joyce at White Pines. I'm hoping he may be that guy. Marty is a past ILPGA teacher of the year as well as a Long Drive Champion. (remax I believe) I do know that he was the first and only to qualify for Remax both driving right AND left handed! 30+ years teaching, I would think he knows what he's doing. Ive heard some good things about Marty. Speaking with him, he seemed like a very nice guy.

Does anyone have any experiences with Marty? Did he improve your game?

IF this weren't to work out for me, does anyone have any recommendations of a Chicagoland Instructor? (preferably North/NW side & suburbs)

I'd like to keep my options open as I search for that perfect fit of a coach. (if there is one)

Thanks!

Nick Clearwater is who I would go to in that area. He knows his stuff and works with some really good players.

Did play it last year for the first time and it is awesome.

    • Day 47: simulator day! Played St. Andrew’s and shot a +1. Not bad, especially with having to putt at this simulator set up. Had about 5 minutes at the end to work on some feels as well.
    • I think you're saying it's preposterous to think that the areas on this club are anything like what's shown here: 30mm toward the toe or heel loses only 5% distance? Highly, highly doubtful. So a guy who hits the ball there and normally hits the ball about 250… will hit it instead about 238. By missing the sweet spot by about 1.2 inches? Highly, highly doubtful. Heck, the high heel barely gets into the red, and orange is only "up to" 10%! @M2R, I've never heard of "Ask Golf Nut" but I'm dubious of his claims in the video and really, really dubious of what's on his site: "Why AskGolfNut Is the Most Trusted Data-Driven Golf Resource". Hmmmmmm.
