Similar situation here.  Mine is a Ping belly putter (head weight 390 g) which I've had cut down so I use it as a conventional putter, with a SS 3.0 grip.  Best feel I've ever had in a putter and I've never had better distance control.

I think putters are the most personal of any club in the bag.  What works for one could be terrible for another.  I wouldn't recommend my setup as "the answer" for anybody else, but it works for me.
