Hey guys appreciate all the help...

The 905R has treated me well, but it only performs when I am completely spot on.

I need something a little hotter with some more forgiveness. I really like the new Taylor made drivers, Burner and Super quad. Does anyone have these clubs and what are the differences. I know the whole weight thing but that doesn't matter because I'll be switching in my v2.

also, I've been looking through ebay and the TP versions are affordable via that route. anyone have the TP and what are the differences?

Still, the one (r7 SuperQuad) has a deeper face and the movable weights along with a different head shape.

Why not consider the 907D2? It's miles better, IMHO, than the 905R for my swing. I had too much spin with the R, but I'm in love with the D2... and I previously used the r7 TP (425 and 460) and tried - and hated - the Burner this year.

TP = better shaft, neutral face angle, neutral weighting. If you fight a quick hook, get the TP version. Otherwise, it's probably not worth the extra money for you. You will waste a little money on the shaft, I guess, if you're just replacing it.

The 907D2 can be custom ordered from the get-go with a ProForce and already has a neutral face angle and weighting.

Whatever move I make I'm switching out shafts from my 905R into the new club, so I'm not worried about whatever shaft technology comes on the club. I'm thinking I am just going to get out there and demo some clubs, I was just looking for some feedback.

What were the issues with the Burner, for some reason I love the looks of the club. Its a definate impulse buy...

Wouldn't you have problems with reshafting from a full bore to a shallow/half-bore driver though? Correct me someone if I'm wrong????

whoa, yeah that could be an issue... I'll have to call my friend who owns a golf repair place thingy and check with him

that would suck if i couldnt reshaft, if its the case i may not pull the trigger on the club...

I like my Tp R5 Dual.. got new on ebay for $150..only issue is that it is a 8.5 degree which is a little low for me but it was cheap and drivers for me don't stay long..

I hit the 907D2 with the proforce and the Aldila VS Proto shafts and all I can say is I wish I had $400 sitting around, great driver, awesome feel, wish I could have seen it somewhere else than the launch monitor.

The 905R is a very forgiving driver. More forgiving than any R7 model ever made. I would say the Burner is more forgiving, but with a 1.5* closed face, i'd look into the TP version.

Driver: 905R w V2 stiff 76
FW: NVG2 Fujikura stiff
Hybrids: Idea Pro 20* Aldila VS Proto
Irons: M685 3-PW Rifle 5.5

I really like the Ping G5. I find it to be pretty forgiving. You may be able to find it new fairly cheap since it's "last years" model with the Ping Rapture now out...but I'd give the Ping G5 a try. No doubt the best club in my bag.

Hybrids Ping G5 (3) 19* Bridgestone J36 (4) 22*
Irons Mizuno MP-57 5-PW
Wedges Srixon WG-504 52.08 Bridgestone WC Copper 56.13

    • Day 48. Got out at lunch to the range to hit some driver shots. Haven’t had much practice there. Focused on setup suggested by @iacas and found some very playable results. I did try to hit a couple of bunker shots after that with much less success 🙃
    • Got a rare birdie on #18 Par 5.  Drive was good and left me in range of the green.  I was @ 210 from the center and needed @ 180 to clear a hazard area.  Green had bunkers lest, right and on back. had been struggling and most shots were short so I took the 225 club figuring back of green hit well. i did hit it well, @ 229 per SS and dead on—kind at the pin.  Ended up @ 1 foot off the back in short rough and lucky for me it was a back pin placement.  Chipped about 15 feet leaving a 3 feet putt for par which I sunk.
    • Yea, so to clarify for me. I do not feel the clubface much in the swing. I feel the weight of the club. I can feel if I hit the club off the heel or toe. When I try to feel if the clubface is open or closed in the swing, I feel it more with my hands, and less of the clubhead. I would classify majority of my swings as not feeling like the clubface does much of all. It feels like I hold the clubface open. In the finish, it doesn't feel like my left hand faces the ground. It feels more like it faces the sky. I will try to be more aware of this, but it was just the sensation I got when I was making what felt like good swings. For the most part, I was hitting slight draws or slight pushes.  On this golf trip, I had to hit a low 8 iron around a tree to the green. I made an alignment adjustment, and actively try to roll my hands a bit more to get it to sling around the corner. I do have a habit of not adjusting how the clubface comes through impact, and I can still hit the ball straight-ish even moving the ball way back in my stance and trying to swing out more.  Yea, my feels are more hands and arms, less actually feeling the clubface.
