Thanks again for all the pointers if nothing else I'm going out tomorrow with a little more confidence! One more question - I have always gone to the driving range but this year my friend gave me my first set of clubs. It's a cheap old set of ram clubs. I would like to update them but money is tight. If you were just starting out what would be the first club you would upgrade? I really want a new driver but want to see what the smartest move would be.? Thanks again!

I'd say if your clubs are rinky dink, then I'd upgrade irons > driver. I would say if you're gonna get driver first save some money and get something from this year or last year.  I feel the upgrades to drivers in the last 2 years are very noticeable.

Played 18 today and my pw and lw were much better and even drove the ball straight a few times! Irons however were awful! I don't know if I was pulling my head or just scared to get under the ball for whatever reason but I was topping everything! I would say 70 percent of my iron shots never left the ground and rolled about 20 yds!?
