Practicing with golf simulators

A place recently opened by our house that is basically an indoor practice range that uses the same type of simulators found in large golf equipment stores. My initial thoughts were that it was pretty cool. The machines give you a ton of data -- including your weight distribution throughout your swing. I was even able to improve a couple of swing flaws based on the input it was giving me.

I'd like to get a few opinions about using equipment like this for practice. Do you think its a gimmick? Or is it a valid means of improving your game?

I hit off a vector pro launch monitor in the winter and it is very helpful

I have been in the golf simulator industry for 8 years and they can definitely improve the golf game.  However, you must use a launch monitor that gives you accurate data; otherwise, you will enforce bad habits.
