hi there i recently picked up a Taylor Made R540 10.5* driver from a charity shop for £2 and have been hitting it extremely well but recently found out that it is a banned driver. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a driver with similar spec as the R540. I have considered just putting a new head on the shaft but want a head with similar size and weight to the r540. i know the face has too much of a spring effect and that's the reason the club is banned but besides this to me this driver just feels amazing to swing.

i found this page with some specs but have'nt found anything else.

  • The TaylorMade r540 driver has a 400cc head, which is a bit larger than many drivers on the market. This gives it a larger sweet spot, making it easier to hit the ball more accurately. The r540 has a lightweight head without the option for added weights. The r540 comes with 8.5 degrees of loft.

    Driver Face

  • The large face on the r540 utilizes what TaylorMade calls "Inverted Cone" technology to provide a large hitting area for a medium trajectory and a higher ball speed. TaylorMade claims its design will provide greater distance than many other drivers.

Shaft

  • The club comes with a lightweight , flexible graphite shaft that creates greater club head speed. The overall result is greater force and driving distance, according to TaylorMade.

Anyone with any recommendations would be greatly appreciated?

I wondered if there are people who also played with this driver and what they changed to once the club had been banned.

your help and suggestiong are appreciated thanks for yor time.

    peace out
