Hello everyone,

I just started playing golf about a month ago, and I already want to upgrade my old mismatched hand me down irons.

Has anyone had any experiences with Maxfli Irons? They have a set on sale at Sports Authority for $200.

I would just go hit them, but I'm still new and don't really know what to look for anyway.

Would I be better off spending my $200 on used irons or a different new set?

I have two friends who just started golfing, and both ended up buying a whole set of the Maxfli Powermax clubs. Both have hit the clubs surprisingly well for people who are just starting. They seem forgiving and my one friend in particular (whose swing is horrendous, actually hurts the eyes) who can hit the ball a decent distance even on mishits while still keeping the ball in play. Anyhow this is just my observation, but I do have some Maxfli's myself and I do like them.

However, often you get what you pay for, and I feel like I'd really like to upgrade at 3-wood and the hybrids, but money is tight right now so I will keep these. I guess in the end my advice to you would be to go ahead and get the clubs because they're nice especially for a beginner and are easier on your wallet, but might want to upgrade in a year or two as you get better.

Driver: R7 Quad 8.5°
3 wood: A10
Hybrid: 20° DWS Baffler
4-GW: FP Irons

thanks for the reply. I ended up going out and buying them tonight, along with the 3h to round out the set. The heads on these things are massive, and just hitting wiffle balls around my living room, i can see a huge improvement.

i figure i can learn on these, and then in a year or so if i'm still going strong, i'll have a better idea of what i want. (right now it's the ping rapture irons, but at $1000 i think i'll wait till i can actually hit the ball )

I just started playing again this year. I went out and bought the complete set of powermax for a pretty good deal at SA.

I immediately got rid of the driver ... wasnt right for me. i'm now looking to replace the irons/woods/hybrid with taylormade r7's..

i must say, they play fairly well ... and for just getting back into it .. i thought the set was suited very well for it. ... i'm just getting a bit more serious and want something to match.

to anyone else looking for a great starter set ... Maxfli Powermax definitely fits the bill...if not more.
