I was browsing the titleist website when I noticed something had just changed. Under fairway woods the 906F4 had popped up, and under scotty cameron putters they are releasing a charcoal mist Red X. I knew the f4 was supposedly coming out this fall, but thought the 907 D4 (425cc model of the 907 d2) would be released, and looks like they are waiting on the usga decision for the tvd wedges. Cool to see nonetheless.

I don't see those changes. They're the rumored changes (the 906F4 and the Red X3 and Red X5), but it might be a few days before we see them officially.

I will note the existence (currently) of this page: http://www.titleist.com/golfclubs/fairways/906F4.asp http://www.titleist.com/golfclubs/pu...arcoalmist.asp I don't think the D4 is going to be released.

I was saying those pages appeared (I think) while I was browsing, Also of note is that the vs proto is a regular option shaft on the 906f4 (Its a no upcharge option for the 906f2 on tgw.com too).

Below is the answer to your question submitted on 07/31/2007

QUESTION:
How can I obtain a Titleist 907 D4?

ANSWER:
Thanks for contacting Titleist.com. The 907 D4 was a prototype driver that
will not be coming to the market.

Sadly the d4 isnt coming out, so I guess I'm stuck with the 905T for now, unless I go for the 460cc D2.

In My Bag:
905T 9.5* w/Graffalloy Blue - D8
Maltby Trouble Out 13* 3+-Wood w/ Aldila NV - D4
HALO 1 Hybrid w/S400 Steel - D4
Maltby M-05 Forged 3-PW w/ Rifle 6.5 - D4 Vokey Oil Can 52* 56* 588 RTG DSG Bioniks Rl 209 Putter (400 grams) E5+

The site now appears to be live for everyone. Everything will be available in early September, they say.

Nobody on Tour even wants a D4. There's no reason. It's a smaller D2... so just get the D2.

If it's a smaller club head, why would you want it? I guess the only reason would be you don't like the look of the big modern heads? I don't know, but you'd be losing distance with a smaller head.

I much prefer the look of the 905T and it is much easier IMO to work the ball with it compared to any of the larger headed drivers I've had. (It's not like I'm totally against large headed drivers and technology - I have a Sumo2 coming back from Nike and I started the year playing a R7)

I haven't heard anything or seen anything. The 585.H is pretty damn sweet though, c'mon now! It'd be tough to improve on!

    • Day 11: did mirror work for a while. Worked on the same stuff.
    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
