I'll definitely be in for as many of these as possible, but I can't do the 15th. That's the day of my daughter's 5th birthday party.

Can't miss that for anything, I almost missed my daughters first steps, I was in Hawaii for work (honest) during December and I finally got home Christmas eve, that Christmas morning she started walking so you never know. Anyways what is our count? I think it's either 5 or 6 and we will be getting those times done very soon, I'll check with Ryan if he's still doing that part.

Are we for sure the 15th now? I will need to find a babysitter because the wife is traveling that weekend. I would say I am a maybe.

Yes the 15th looks like the way we were heading right now, let us know if it can work out as soon as you can, the 22nd was the other day, for me I would say the 22nd is doubtful but what matters is finding the day that the most people can make it. This also is only the first one this year so I'm sure we will be able to find something that works for a lot of us eventually but just getting the first outing out of the way will at least get things started.

I can arrange to tee time at Poppy Ridge. We still would like to get a group of two going out so if anyone has a buddy they want to bring, see if they can make it. Also, what tee time does everyone prefer? Between the 8am and 10am range.

Best Regards,
Ryan

Played with someone today that said they started their spring maintenance on the course meaning aeration but I called them up and they said not until the 31st and the conditions are excellent right now till the end of the month, so after this outing I'm already suggesting Poppy Hills for the next one depending on how well everyone enjoys Poppy Ridge.

The tee time doesn't matter to me. I can make it any time.

What's the price range again?  I told my buddy around $80 and he balked.  Said Poppy Ridge is often on golfnow for much cheaper.

If we book by tomorrow for a morning tee time, the general rate is $90 and $74 for NCGA members. Looking at golfnow, the rates look about the same with no morning tee times. I don't know if they'll get cheaper and I think it's better to book in advance for the morning since they seem to book fairly quick.

Ryan

BigC is a SoCal guy who just happened to be out here on business, so I doubt he will be available that weekend (he wasn't even available for the SoCal trip a couple weekends ago).  But hopefully we can get a few more guys out.  I can probably get a buddy or two to come along if we need another.

Thanks for thinking of me guys, but with a baby on the way in a few weeks, my golf calendar looks really barren up through June. Have fun and shoot well!

So has @mchepp found a babysitter for the 15th? We are down to 5 if he can't make it unless we can get a friend or 2. A minimum of 6 will at least get 2 threesomes, we need to get at least this many.

I'll confirm one way or the other on Sunday.

I'll book two groups of 3 for Saturday. We do have a 24 hour cancellation window so we can make changes next week if we have to.

    • Shot of the Week for me was definitely this drive that set up my second birdie of the back 9 yesterday. It’s a longer par 4 but usually the prevailing wind is with you (the slightly longer hole to the right is a par 5 that usually plays into the wind). I don’t usually hit driver on this hole and honestly couldn’t think of the last time I did when I was standing on the tee. Yesterday, the wind was in the opposite direction so I had to hit into a headwind. I decided I’d need the extra length with driver on the tee and absolutely piped it. It was perfectly launched with low spin that just penetrated through the wind. Technically the approach shot was worth more in SG (I hit it inside 4’), but this drive set up the entire hole.

    • Rory and Bryson are two of my favorites for some time.  This was a great watch.  Poor Rory looked gutted and (heat?) exhausted at the end there.  Bryson play US Open golf - Captain Scramble.  Avoid the blowups and accidentally find a birdie on occasion and it goes far,
    • 2nd shot into a short par 5. I had ~185 left but was just off the fairway to the right with some low tree limbs in front of me. Aimed at the water and hit a punch slice 4 iron that started low under the trees, rose higher as it kept going, cut towards the middle of the green, carried the water and rolled to ~25 feet for an eagle putt. Lipped out the eagle putt but never going to complain about tap in birdies.  It was one of those shots that I've done before and was a perfect yardage gap. I have a punch 4 iron swing that I know goes right at 185, and I can cut the ball much easier than I can draw it, so it was actually a much easier shot for me than it appears to be in the picture. I would have been fine if it would have over cut too, rough isn't very penal here so it would have been an easy chip from short right.  Although to be fair I didn't realize/remember that the water cut in as far into the fairway as it did, I thought it stopped right around the left edge of the green.
    • I absolutely LOVE my new Titliest U505 3 iron.  It was slightly chunky looking at first, but I don't even notice it anymore after just a couple rounds with it. It's super easy to launch it high and I have no issues flighting it down either.  Perfectly fine to hit off the tee for tighter tee shots and for 2nd shots into par 5s. Even the mishits go much further than I think they should, it's quite forgiving.
