Wow, you are very lucky. I really wish there was something like that where I am. Lessons here are a lot more per hour, and the nine hole teaching round runs about $125. I'm going to have to keep shopping around... If I saw a sweet training deal like that I would have already gone for it.

What do you mean?

He's being silly.

http://www.xfactordirect.com/drivers.htm - it's an obnoxious infomercial on The Golf Channel.

LOL

I haven't seen the commercial (obviously) bit it just sounds funny now after reading his post and knowing what it is. Infomercials are so hilariously cheesy.

LOL

The only infomercial with a product that is any good is the Showtime rotiserie cooker, that thing works pretty well. If anyone were to believe the vast majority of infomercials, we would all be driving cars which got 120+ mpg, have the most beautiful full head of hair & ladies would be beating down your door. Call Bosleys hair clinic, get a vornado for your cars intake & some Maxiderm for yourself. Oh yea, don't forget The Hammer! 350 yd drives are only 1 easy credit card payment of $99.95 away.

I have been playing for about seven months now, and started to love the game after about three months. I used to hit the ball around with my friend as a kid, and played baseball growing up. I have always enjoyed golf, but never had the money to get into it until now. I frequent the driving range and try to hit a course every weekend. I have already holed a 60ish yard pw shot, and a 30yd shot from a bunker. (Luckily with my weekend regulars to witness them) I have progressed very quickly according to people I have spoken to, and shoot high 80's to mid 90's reguarly on a 72 par. I purchased the cheap 130.00 RAM set from Target, and that is currently what I am using now.
I am in a slow upgrade process. I did try the new Adams A3 set in graphite and noticed how much easier they are to hit, and how forgiving they are. You will lose some feel with graphite, but I have decided that I want them. I do not know if it is really necessary for me to upgrade anything at this point, but I have noticed that nicer clubs just feel better and easier to hit.
I would recommend trying to find some nice used clubs either from craigslist, or a local golf shop. I have noticed that the RAM's are noticeably heavier than nicer clubs, and no i'm not comparing these to the graphites. The nicer used clubs will probably be a better platform to build from. I have had no problems with my RAM's, these are just my observations and advice from my experience. Hopefully this helps.

    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
