I have been playing for a year and a half now and I landed my first Eagle. A 316 yard par 4. Cut the corner with my Driver, a wind aided, slightly downhill 307 yard drive to within 10 feet of the cup. Difficult putt, 3 foot break dead left.  It was something special to watch that putt get closer and closer, almost slow motion, then, BAM! drops in the cup. special moment. When I went down to find my ball after the drive, I thought it was lost, couldn't find it until I looked at the green.

I haven't been playing well lately, ball striking issues with my irons but my driver has been my most reliable club for the last two months. I worked my butt off trying to hit that driver straight and it's finally paid off. My yardage is down a little but I can hit fairways now almost 80% of the time if I'm careful.  This is a tough game, at times I wonder why I keep at it but it pulls me in like drug that I can't resist. I think I might need rehab, I feel like a crack head.

In my bag....

Congratulations.  I know how exciting that first eagle can be.  I had my first one back in the 1960's with a driver, 4 wood and long putt on a par 5.  I have had an eagle in every decade since then and a total of 12. My last one came in July of 2012 when I knocked a pitching wedge into the hole from 115 yards. I can't wait until 2020 when I can work on my 7th decade with an eagle.

Congratulations @madolive3 .  Feels good doesn't it?  Did you save the ball?  I wrote the date, course and hole on mine with the word, 'Eagle'.

Congrats! I got mine on my last round of the season this year, on a par 5. What was shocking was that the first two shots were both slices, yet I salvaged an eagle out of the deal. Then promptly followed with a bunch of doubles and triples :(

No Dammit. I wish that I had thought to save that ball. I have to figure out some other way to commemorate the event.

Thanks guys..

    • I believe that @billchao has suggested that I fall into this category.  .... Although technically I believe he referred to me as an "ass-clown". ... Which at the time seemed like a compliment. 🤷‍♂️
    • LIV golf actually got 2 pages in this month's GOLF magazine. It was kind of interesting. The magazine walked a thin line between bagging on the shortcomings and trying to build it up.  The magazine's main point seemed to be that the managers play a critical roll for each team in LIV. They compared it to baseball managers. To which I though "hmm.... ???"
    • Of course. I was just exaggerating for fun.  At the start of Hogan's era it is estimated that roughly half a million Americans played golf. By the end of his era, about 3.5 million.  During Tiger's era roughly 19 million at the start and nearly 30 million by the end of it.  To look at it another way during Hogan's era less than 0.5% of all high schools had a golf team. Compared to nearly half of all high schools during Tiger's era. If you really want to see a big difference more than 25 times as many Junior High Schools had golf teams during Tiger's era than did High Schools during Hogan's era.  And this says nothing of international competition. Up until 1974 the British used a different golf ball than did the Americans. It wasn't until 1990 that the Brits officially outlawed their "small ball". It wasn't until the 1960's that Americans really started to play in Europe at all. Very few Americans played The Open from the 1930's until the 1960's. The travel sucked and the prize money wasn't worth the trip. Remember air travel to Europe wasn't really a thing until at least the mid-1950's. Before that you would spend 2 weeks at sea.  It is simply not arguable that Hogan faced any where near as stiff of competition as did Tiger. In golf, yes, you play against the course, but the lowest score wins. It's much easier to win if far FAR fewer players are playing.  Personally, I'd suggest that the competition was way better vs Tiger than vs Jack. But at least that's a discussion. I'm sorry but arguing for Hogan's era it's no contest. Tiger definitively and definitely and by every measure faced tougher competition than did Hogan.
    • I watch Bryson and Phil.... on YouTube. Does that count? 🙃
    • Hilarious. Completely ridiculous hyperbole.
