Scotty Cameron wants $175 plus tax plus shipping to restore my Catalina. Tom Slither wants $119 plus $19 shipping. I assume it doesn't get any cheaper than the Tom Slither route?

I found a guy that does the shiny black oxide finish and sent my Catalina to him last week - $75 for the finish and paint fill. He just emailed me and said he shipped it to me this morning, he's 100 miles from me here in Michigan so I should see it Monday. My fingers are crossed . . .

I haven't gotten it back yet, here's a pic before I sent it to him. The last time it rained in my league, I was planning to dry it off when I got home. But I had too many beers with my cheeseburger basket in the clubhouse and I forgot all about it until a couple days later. I'll post an "after" picture when I get it back.

This guy does nice work at a great price. Your putter looks fantastic. I am not hawking Cameron, but I believe the $175 includes not only refinishing, but the standard grip and head cover of your choice, and maybe minor adjustments if wanted, and returned to you with documentation.

They also said there would be additional shipping charges on top of the $175 plus whatever it cost me to hip to them initially.  I might have been able to find a new one for that kind of money! Payng $75 seemed good enough for me.

Your putter looks great and that seems like a great price. Yours looks great and if all you want is a refinish, then you made a good choice. I didn't mean to get the thread off track--it is about your putter and not Cameron. I am not pushing Cameron, nor saying that is what you should have done, just saying their $175 is not a rip-off. I just used their online estimate and the $175 includes choice of a standard grip, choice of a standard head cover, restoration to standard loft and lie, restoration of original paintfill, and a new shaft in desired standard length with choice of standard custom shop band. The grip, headcover, and shaft are worth $75-100 alone. So what you get back is essentially a new putter, with new accessories. I have an old Cameron that I picked up for $5, and thinking about giving it the treatment, but like you I am balking at the $175, even though I think it is a good deal.

Does anyone know of a before and after pro platinum Newport 2 that was refinished to black from the original pro platinum? It looks like it's possible but not entirely sure
