I don't know all the mathematics, but I do know what you describe gives an advantage to the house. Another thing I've seen popping up is Blackjack using a video screen to show your cards instead of real, physical playing cards. Now THAT would be impossible to beat as I'm guessing a new "deck of cards" is used for every deal.

There was another twist to the blackjack they had on a cruise ship I was on last year. All cards were dealt face up, including the two dealer cards. It made it really easy to decide whether to hit or stand. The kicker? The dealer won all ties. I didn't play it for very long, but I lost during the little time I did play. When I got back home, I did some research and learned that version of Blackjack gave the house a decided advantage and, even if you were a counter, was a losing proposition.

That reminds me of a quirky version of Blackjack that they had at (I think) Harrahs that I saw several years ago (way over in the corner of the casino, no idea if they still have it) where you played two hands simultaneously and you had the option to swap cards from one hand to the other.

Needless to say, they had other rules built in to give them a comfy advantage.

We had this version at a local card club, called Blackjack Switch. You had to buy in for two hands and after they were dealt, you could choose to swap the top cards if you wanted. After choosing, normal rules applied (as far as doubling down and splitting). I only ever played it once and it was kind of fun because it's a little more engaging. However, as you stated, there were a couple extra rules including blackjacks paying even (instead of 3:2) and the dealer pushed on 22. They actually just got rid of that version recently, although I'm not sure why.

    • Day 171 - 2025-03-20 Got a good 30 minutes in today. A little backswing so it doesn't get too far out of hand, then some downswing stuff. If I'm in a good spot at the top I have a chance even without the best downswing.
    • First day of spring and we had colossal snowflakes here.   The temperature has dropped significantly.   I may not get to golf until mid-April.

    • So to start with I’m 67 years old and just returned to the game a month or so ago after a 30+ year break. . To give you an idea of how long I’ve been away from golf, there were no hybrids last time I got serious about it. I’m enjoying it and seeing gains/improvement every time out. That said, I’m playing with antique woods (Old Taylormade Burners) and since I’m playing with Callaway irons (2004 BBs) I’d like to stick with the brand and upgrade to Callaway woods - at least a driver and a 3 for now.   For a glimpse of my ability, I hit the 3 wood 200 yards and more or less straight, and I think I newer tech clubs might help. Also I’m 6’5” and these clubs are a bit short for me, by 1 1/2” or so.   So looking at the gillions of perfectly fine looking Callaway drivers on eBay I’m completely overwhelmed and under-informed. I’m also doing this on a self-imposed budget since I’m not good enough to warrant new, exotic, pricey stuff and I’m pretty sure anything made in the last 20 years will do nicely.    So given all that, anyone have any specific suggestions on a good/prefered model Callaway driver that can be had for around $50? If I earn better gear by improving my performance I’ll go after it then, get fitted for clubs again, all that. But for now my goal is bogey golf so I’m limiting my golf allowance accordingly.    Thanks, cheers, and happy golfing.  As examples, I’m looking at RAZR, BBII, X460, Fusion FT series, Diablo, etc. and I can’t tell if they are all good and I should just shop price or if one or more are preferable over others. TIA…
