I want an iron that is going to grow with me as a player. I'm pretty new to the game but am not to shabby. I shoot around a 45 with little to know short game which I think is pretty damn good. I have come across some money from my father because he actually won for once in a casino trip so he's hooking his nineteen year old son up with his first real set of irons. I currently play taylormade 320's. This is my first summer playing and am getting better and better. Should I go with g10, g5, i10, or i5's? I was planning on going g10 or g5 but on another forum a user said that this could hamper my growth. Im not the best striker of the ball, yet, but am getting better. So, what are you guys reccomending I do. I was thinking of mizuno 25's also but am open to what you guys recomend. Thanks a lot.

Well, if money is not an issue, I would go with the 10's instead of the 5's, just because the 10's are newer, and have better technology by a year. If money is an issue, get the 5's, because they will be about $200-$300 cheaper, and not that much different.

With that being said, if you the the g5/g10, they would fit your game well right now because they are designed for maximum forgiveness for a high handicapper like yourself. Unfortunately, once you get a bit better, you will want something not as bulky, so you can be able to work the ball better.

That brings me to why I think you should get the i5/10's. The i10 irons from what I have heard are pretty forgiving, which is good for a high-handicapper like yourself, but also fairly easy to work the ball for when you get better.

    • Weather Outlook Friday:  Mid 70's, Sunny, No Wind  Saturday: Mid to Upper 70's, Partly Cloudy, Light Breeze Sunday: Upper 60's to Low 70's, Cloudy with 45% Chance Rain, Light Wind  I am loving these temps for golf.  I am kind of glad to get back to Northstar since I do not remember much of the course. Looking at the aerial images, I remember some of the holes, and the routing.  Reading a few reviews on Eaglesticks, it looks like it is in good condition? I wonder if the amount of rain they have gotten this year has helped out. Which is nice because it's a very fun course to play. I like the layout a lot.  The Virtues is really nice.
