Just got the new Burner Driver from Taylor Made. Wasn't sure on the TP so I have the standard 9.5 degree stiff shafted model. Now I am bombing it. Hitting it out over 300 yards...however I am getting no roll and into the wind its a nightmare as it goes MILES into the air. I do hit the ball very high even with the flighted rifle shafts in my irons.

So basically I'm looking for a low spin producing shaft. I am open to all suggestions, cheers!!

2 Iron: G10 Hybrid (Ust Proforce V2 85g High Launch Stiff)Irons: X- Forged (Rifle 6.0 Shafts)Wedges: 248.06, 252.08, SM56.10, SM60.04Putter: 9 XG Ball: TP BlackBag: Ozone Stand...

If you are hitting the ball 300 I'm guessing you have a pretty high swing speed. Although I think the stock shaft in the burner is probably 50 grams and the shaft is 46', so even myself at 95mph swing speed could probably get that 260-270 in the air. Anyway, if you want to lower spin and ball flight I'd recommend the UST Proforce V2 shaft. It's going to play much different than the stock shaft, and you may lose some distance but it will do what you want.

Not concerned with distance so perhaps I'll give it a try. It is a crazy light shaft at 50 grams, goes a mile!

Oh yeh my swing speed is 115/120 afaicr

There is really no such thing as a low or high spin shaft...but a combination of shaft/head angle of impact that derive spin.

Your swing speed is tremendous!

It's very possible, actually PROBABLE that you can get greater distance and a lower flight at your swing speed....but we'd need more info.

When you had your swing speed checked, do you recall what the IBS was?

Also a couple more questions....when you miss the fairway....do you tend to pull or push?

Also, where (state) do you live?

Try a heavier shaft, or one with a lower kick point.

And Indacup, he lives in Ireland..

Ahh, thanks!

I have a few customers there...as soon as we hear more info I think we could recommend some viable options for him to pick up locally....thanks!

its a really tough subject... simply put there are so many shafts out there and really very little opportunity to demo such shafts. I've seen the epics and the whiteboards but I've never found a shop that has a demo club with a high end shaft that I can actually test out on the course. A launch monitor is useful in many respects but sometimes I question the data, I've seen very high numbers on some machines for my swing and just doesn't compare to the real thing. Almost every company makes a shaft that everyone is mentioning here... you want a heavier shaft, low torgue, the ideal flex points and butt/tip measurements... I have no idea how to differentiate between high end shafts... they are all around the same price level.

Your swing speed may change with a heavier stiffer shaft. I've had mine clocked as high as 107 with a driver and a whippy stock shaft.

If he is hitting the ball too high, why would he want a shaft with a lower kickpoint? I could see trying a shaft with a higher kickpoint(lower launch), but if he were to put in a low kickpoint shaft into a driver he is already hitting high, he will end up hitting drives that look like wedge shots.
