Croatia whippin on overmatched 10 man Cameroon. I thought they played decent against Mexico. Having no Eto'o and 10 men really ruins them. The problem with this is that goal difference will play no role in deciding who advances. Mexico and Brazil with four, croatia soon with 3, Brazil will beat Cameroon(Presumably) to get to 7 points. That leaves Croatia Vs Mexico to see who advances, Brazil has a +2 GD, Mexico +1. So Mexico will need to beat Croatia by at least 2 more than Brazil beats Cameroon to finish first. If Croatia wins, they finish second regardless(Assuming Brazil beats Cameroon of course)

Good analysis. Always fun to do the analysis after game 2 to see how the brackets could shape up. Gonna be a fun few days.

Brazil is probably going to win Group A, which means the winner of Group B will play either Mexico or Croatia in the round of sixteen. The Dutch only need to tie Chile to avoid Brazil, but this doesn't feel like the tournament where playing not to lose is a wise strategy.

Brazil V Netherlands??! I'm hoping so. I'm also hoping Chile crushes Mexico. ;)

This Dutch team (like most Dutch teams I can remember, actually) can't really play like that. As we saw against Australia, they aren't tight enough at the back to reliably shut Chile out. They'll play for the win, and probably get it. Though to be honest, were they to meet Brazil at this stge of the tournament I think it's the Brazilians who'd be most worried.

The more I practise, the luckier I hope to get.

Colombia vs. Ivory Coast. I think this match ends in a draw.

Terrific stuff, this. Neither team can defend worth a damn, but it makes for an exhilarating finish. IVC have some great players but they don't even resemble a football team, it's chaos.

The more I practise, the luckier I hope to get.

Colombia's in the driver's seat in their group, and Ivory Coast still stands a decent chance to advance despite the loss. Onward to England-Uruguay. Uruguay needs three points more than England does, and it gets Luis Suarez back for this match. There's a good chance the Group D table ends in a massive tiebreaker scenario.

Ivory Coast will probably advance unless Japan beats Greece and ties Colombia

No Forlan this year for Uruguay? He blew me away last World Cup. Always compelling to watch them last time.

Forlan was my favorite player back in 2010, he started last game. He's old now and a shell of himself unfortunately

He's available as a substitute. I wouldn't be surprised to see him come in during the second half if the match is close.
