Im taking my first steps to replacing my old clubs. I havent played much in recent years but have been taking it up more the past few weeks and i want to keep at it. I have been reading a lot of the comments on here and today went and enquired about getting new clubs. I went to local shop and asked about the process and they showed me round their fitting room etc (assistant was very friendly and knew his stuff). Have booked a lesson now this week with the owner of the shop and ill then book a date for getting fited. I was looking at mizuno clubs as people here had suggested them on a number of occasions. The man was showing me clubs with a very thick head on them and said they are better for beginners, but then he showed me a set of similar clubs whose heads werent quite as thick and said they were still very suitable for beginners but also suited if you got better you could still play away with them very well. My question is that when i go to get fitted, should i look at other clubs other than mizuno, i know they are supposed to be very good but what if one set are more suitable to me than mizuno? He will probably suggest some sets to me, but is there anything worth taking a look at in the under €500 price range?

My dad just recently got the Mizuno MX-17's. hes not a beginner but hes losing his game and having troubles hitting the ball with his old blades. They are definatly easier to hit and more forgiving, now that he got them, hes hitting an 8 iron from 150 instead of a 7. And definatly the key component is weather you like them. Mizuno is a good club, Cheap and worth it.

I donno if i'd call mizuno cheap. Alota their iron sets run over 700, I donno, but to me thats not exactly change.

their not cheap, but you play with them for years. You can buy a golf set in the Lidl (it's a cheap supermarket like Wall-Mart - we don't have wall-mart in belgium), but don't expect them to last for years.

I wouldn't go in only looking at Mizuno, although they are certainly fine irons. All of the quality brands (Mizuno, Ping, Callaway, Taylormade, etc) make great clubs these days. Go in with an open mind, know your budget and you'll come away with some irons that will be great for your game.
