I am thinking of going to a launch monitor to test some drivers. I am quite nervous of going on one though as my driver swing has become really inconsistant and I feel that I may embarrass myself. the guy might be like: come back when you can hit a ball properly!! lol! What should I do?

If you dont have a swing that is repeatable and consistent, then a launch monitor will do nothing for you.

By a mask. Just don't walk in with a handgun.

Seriously though just go in and make sure you test everything. These guys are trying to sell product to people who are probably even worse then you.

I will give it a shot...if I do a bad swing I will probably blame it on an injury lol

I wouldnt do that....If I were you I would walk in there and before you even get yourself in the launch monitor be honest with him, say Im not that great of a golfer but I think some new equipment may help me so I may have some horrible swings. Then ask him to bear with you. Im sure if you do that you'll be fine.

Ok cheers...I have not really tested drivers since I started playing properly. I used my friends cobra though and hit it so well that's what I am looking for.

The one thing they will be able to do is fit you to your potential if you want. I was on a Trackman launch monitor and my swing wasn't firing, mainly because I was nervous, and I was still able to fit into a good shaft and driver. If you continue to practice your swing will change and maybe the money you have put aside for that new driver should go into lessons and practice balls at the range. Honestly, a good swing crappy equipment always trumps a bad swing with top of the line equipment. I understand wanting to upgrade the driver but it's not the reason you're having trouble with it, it's your swing. Not meant to be personal at all, it's just fact.

Swing = Stacked and On Plane when possible.

Some launch monitors can measure your swing without you actually hitting a ball. I think the Pro 3 monitors has that function. Golf etc usually has that brand of monitors. Goldsmith has TruGolf.

Anyhow, they can look at your swing speed and determine the shaft length and material that is good for you, and you don't have to worry about face angle, or hitting right on the sweet spot consistently. Although, for them to determine the launch angle, you'll have to hit the balls.

Yeah I understand what you are saying but when i was using my driver I had major slice issues...not just a fade a major slice about 150 yards so I used a hybrid to tee off. I used my friends cobra with the same swing and hit it 250 straight...so I dunno.

Screw the monitor, tell them you need a 7 degree driver with a steel rod for a shaft. That should do ya right.

I think you should at least go in and talk to them, you never know you may be able to still accomplish something.

lol that would be funny...would be priceless to see the guys face if I said that and went to the launch monitor and hit a shank...I have only hit like 5 shanks ever...when I was changing swing.

Well it wouldn't hurt to go on a launch monitor. The data they collect from the good shots you hit is worth it. Just be totally truthful when you tell the guy what kind of golfer you are. It might hurt the ego but it helps the game.
