With a handicap index of twenty, I wouldn't really worry about that right now. You should be concentrating on hitting the ball straight and making consistant contact.

I hardly ever play 18, I just threw that in there, i usually shoot low forties. (its my chipping that kills me, my ball striking is decent, also I have been taking lessons, so my handicap has probably gone down, only played 18 once or twice this summer ) :( Help on shot shaping would be helpful (no pun intended)

it's just a matter of understanding basic principles of swing path and club face orientation at impact.. i think i understand it pretty welll... if someone else has any comments about what i'm about to say, feel free to shoot

hitting it low:
1.hand should be ahead of ball to deloft club face (having ball back in stance helps with this)
2. flatter swing plane or slightly shortened backswing

hitting it high:
1. hands even with or behind ball
2. steeper swing plane or very full long backswing

draw:
1. inside out swing path
2. face is slightly closed at impact (helps to have clubface closed at address)

fade/cut:
1. outside to in swing path (cutting across the ball)
2. face is slightly open at impact

and for either a hook or slice you can just exaggerate any of those movements/adjustments

    • Day 58: night putting session for about an hour. Started with lag putting and ended with putts inside 9’. I need to work on putts from 6-12’, but in a solid spot overall.
    • Birdied a different #6 today (incidentally, also a par-5, but not the same one on which I previously birdied).  Here's the funny thing though:  it's the par-5 that caused me to post my "how do I avoid bogeys?" on par-5s recently.  So I guess I still haven't parred that hole.
    • Day 20, May 24.  Played 18 today, very poor ball driving.  One GIR, and it was a 4-wood from the rough.  Several other instances of hitting a green on a full swing (and at least one full swing motion -- a 50% UW) that wasn't for GIR.   Still shot an 87 and even had a birdie (chip-in).
    • Welcome to TST.  I spent a bit of time in the UK but I had to look up Wagon Wheels.  Don't think I ever saw them.  Had to Google to see.  Couple similar items in US but Google says they are different. 😁
    • Day 264 5-24 Worked on getting chest through and arms down infront of chest. Contact isn't great yet but on video looking better.
